There’s other threads on this.. look at the board before creating yet another one 😩

It closes often, even outside of covid. There are provisions in place for those who need care to access it at nearby hospitals, it is a tiny one and this is really not news.

There are threads on this. One small hospital in the entire country doesn't mean the R rate is rising. We will likely see small spikes in different areas as lockdown eases.

Knocksomesense · 25/05/2020 15:02

This hospital a&e has been closed mostly for the last few years

ToffeeYoghurt · 25/05/2020 15:04

I bet there's a hell of a lot less threads on this than the daily Just Get On With It, It's Only The Elderly and Disabled, etc, etc, threads.

If people aren't allowed to post a thread about something that might've already been covered. Because some people have lives and can't spend all day and night checking through MN loads of threads would have to go.

Weston hospital's A&E is closed after 10pm anyway. It often closes due to staff shortages and is scheduled to be closed permanently. The A&E only deals with minor injuries, any major traumas go to either Bath or Bristol. If it wasn't for the word Covid, this story would not make the local news let alone the national news as it happens so often.

ToffeeYoghurt · 25/05/2020 15:29

It's quite ridiculous that hospitals have been, over the years, downgraded and closed. We have a growing population. We need more not less hospital facilities. UK wide.

Weston was the smallest hospital trust in the country prior to it being taken over in April of this year by UHB - the a&e is often closed because it can't be safely run. Indicates the fragility of the service at Weston more than it says anything about covid.

I believe they only have 5 critical close beds and A&E closes at 10pm every evening. A&E gets closed on a semi regular basis.
