I've worked it all out re: DC (semi light hearted!)

The general public weren't too keen to move to phase 2. People don't want to send their kids back to school, people dont want to use public transport, people dont feel safe (the government did a right number on us with the covid fear!!). So old DC is wheeled out, having blatantly flouted the lockdown rules, the government back him and Joe public are so incandescent with rage they'll get back out to their day to day lives in protest!!

It's genius, bet DC thought it all up Grin

That did cross my mind, especially as it's only coming out now weeks after.

That said we do need to start getting to a "new" normal, you never know the government might actually get a competent test, track and trace set up as we can't continue like this for much longer.

I have noticed the BBC's reporting of the crisis has been much less alarmist and they have shifted their focus from the virus to the economic impact of the lockdown. More human stories about struggling small business, etc. This has made me hopeful that restrictions will be eased and we can get back to some kind of normality soon.
I still think Cummings needs to go though as he is a poisonous little snake.

Titsywoo · 25/05/2020 10:41

Yeah i agree. Too many people complied and continue to comply. They want people to get back out there and hopefully achieve herd immunity (which is still the plan) without being the ones to say in case it goes wrong.

Tfoot75 · 25/05/2020 10:47

Hmm you could be right but it's rather a risky strategy for the party. Definitely agree that most people don't realise how manufactured the fear agenda has been.

unchienandalusia · 26/05/2020 10:26

The timing is highly suspicious.

Yes, everyone now thinking 'F this, if he can break the rules so can I'

And going out to meet ups with pals or family on beaches, parks etc then round to their house....

And the infection rates spike right up and the government say 'we told you to stay alert, this is all your fault, nothing to do with us'

Nappyvalley15 · 26/05/2020 12:16

Disagree.
The whole affair has shown the public that DC is in charge of BJ. Not a good look for the government. Not a good look for democracy.

I forgot it was a Bank Holiday yesterday and took my aged mother out for a short drive. Hordes of people parked up at a local tourist spot and hundreds of bikers. The short drive became an even shorter one, even though we were never going to actually stop anywhere.

What really annoys me is that my mum was indoors for three months and her dementia has got noticeably worse. I kept thinking that I could have taken her out for a drive as we would just drive round and return home, causing no one any harm, but I didn't because we'd been told to stay at home.

I feel like we should have just gone out now and if stopped told the police I was testing my eyes. rolls them
