Newborn

Anyone had a newborn in this pandemic? How's everyone's feelings towards it all? Got a 9 day old little girl and I also have a 18 month toddler. Obv no one has met the little one yet feel pretty gutted at that tbh as she is just so perfect and can't wait to show her and share her with the rest off the family. Feeling like the 18 month old is getting bored herself in the house all day. Partner goes back to work in a week aswell so going to be home alone with the 2 myself. Not seen anyone since 16th March so defo starting to feel it all now! But obv having to do what is best for my girls!! X

Me! I have a 9 week old born the day before lockdown. Also a 3 year old. To say I’m fed up is an understatement. I’m gutted none of our families can meet our daughter & it has been really hard having zero support. I’ve had many a breakdown and sob about it. Yes, I chose to have a child but no, I didn’t chose to have one in a pandemic & lose my entire support village that I’m lucky to have!

I’m not too worried about my girls really, we’ve been out & about for walks everyday since DD2 was born & I take her to ‘see’ my parents from one end of their drive quite regularly when I drop off shopping (mums vulnerable). But it’s not the same 😞

I’m keeping my fingers & toes crossed that nursery reopens in a weeks time so I get 3 days of ‘rest’ from juggling a demanding 3 year old who is adjusting to sharing her parents and climbing the walls & a baby who doesn’t nap very well 😩 all on about 3 hours sleep max.. having one child all day will seem like a breeze!

Nine week old lockdown baby here too.

Not seeing family or support network in person is becoming almost intolerably hard.

My baby hasn’t been touched by anyone other than his parents or health professionals in his whole life.

Eight week old DS, along with a 3 year old who is as fed up of lockdown as I am. It's rubbish...

I have a 3 week old , and its breaking my heart that our parents and siblings havent been able to hold him. Theyve seen him in the garden from afar but it isnt the same. Hes changing so much every day and they are missing so much. Tbh were getting to the point where we will do our own risk assessments and will just allow our parents to hold him.

4 week old DD here and a 2.5 year old DD trapped in lockdown! Plus a DH who has had to leave to work offshore for the next 6 weeks , sob! It's really tough . I'm struggling with it all. Going for walks daily with the two of them just to get out and about ! Too much tv in the afternoons and I worry so much about older DD not getting any social interaction. Really hope restrictions lifted soon ( I'm in Scotland) so some family in England can come and help me!

I have a 9 week old and a 3 year old.

I met my mum today and she held the baby for about 2 minutes. This is only the second time she has seen her (first being the day she was born, which was before lockdown). We didnt put anyone at risk - we have all been in for more than two weeks and so has my mum. I will be doing it again.

I'm due with my first baby soon so have read this with interest and am in awe of how strong you all are. It must be so tough not having the support network and not having family hold your precious babies.

Not many people can say they've had a baby in a global pandemic. I'm sure you'll all look back on this with pride and realise how strong you are. I know that doesn't make up for the horrible circumstance you're all in and new mums and babies deserve to be showered with love and affection. It's okay to feel hard done by!
