why should we respect lockdowm?

I can't believe what I have just heard.

Its not only Cummings who needs to go now

HampsteadHeathen · 24/05/2020 17:26

This government clearly thinks we are all fools.

Blerg · 24/05/2020 17:28

Cummings must have so much potential to screw things up for Boris, for him to take that bullet. I can’t see them winning the next election.

ToffeeYoghurt · 24/05/2020 17:29

I take it you don't like Cummings?
In which case why would you want to emulate him?

MarginalGain · 24/05/2020 17:31

I'm surprised that he's not cut him loose.

Boris has a rough week ahead, I don't think the backbenchers are not going to let this go.

Redolent · 24/05/2020 17:32

Equating the breaking of rules with ‘caring’ is so fucking despicable when all of us have to make emotional sacrifices.

Hadenoughfornow · 24/05/2020 17:35

I think that's whats really got me tonight.

He used the word Integrity!

toffee no i won't emulate him. Ultimately I am a decent human being who wants to do what is right for others. More than can be said for Johnson or Cummings.

Just so angry tonight.

BalloonDinosaur · 24/05/2020 17:35

The Tory government don't give a shit about normal people, think rules don't apply to them and that we should do what they say, not what they do? What a shock.

Discobar · 24/05/2020 17:38

@Hadenoughfornow it won't be healthy to stay angry for four years. Just crack open a beer and do what you feel is right for your family

LadyWithLapdog · 24/05/2020 17:39

Is this a free for all now? We’ll all make our own decisions and do whatever the f* we want. Johnson and his cronies have behaved despicably.

Hadenoughfornow · 24/05/2020 17:40

Disco the damage that him and his cronies will do to my children will last a lifetime.

I think I can stay angry for a lot longer than 4 years

OP posts:
Discobar · 24/05/2020 17:43

It's the unions and schools fighting against the reopening of education. Financially wise it's no worse than the bank bail out. Rough times ahead over the next year but a lifetime is a massive overreaction. Just chill

LadyWithLapdog · 24/05/2020 17:47

“do what you feel is right for your family” is what lots of people will do as they won’t have any trust or respect in the government, the rules and laws. I don’t know that’s a healthy route to take as a society.

LadyWithLapdog · 24/05/2020 17:49

The unions and schools are NOT fighting against a reopening of schools. They want clear and safe advice. But obviously that can be summarised as do what the f* you want, Cummings and his cronies are.

Hadenoughfornow · 24/05/2020 17:57

Disco sorry I just don't get your posts. What's schools reopening got to do with Dominic Cummings making multiple trips to Durham which went against the instructions his government have come up with?

And this WILL be worse than 2008 and the Financial crash. Any idiot can see that.

OP posts:
Jaxhog · 24/05/2020 18:01

why should we respect lockdowm?

Because YOU care about the rest of us, even if he doesn't? Please don't let this idiot, dictate your actions. If you do, you'll be just as bad as he is.

Hadenoughfornow · 24/05/2020 18:06

Jax i've already said that I will respect it above. Just really angry tonight as I'm sure any of us with a shred of decency is.

OP posts:
ToffeeYoghurt · 24/05/2020 18:09

Yes. Everybody is indeed aware that this pandemic is very likely going to cause global recession. Whatever Cummings does or doesn't do.

Countries like NZ and Taiwan, who took measures to mitigate the damage are better placed for a quicker and easier economic recovery. All we can do is put some of those measures in place now so that we prevent further long-term economic damage. Better late than never.

We should start with proper border controls. Because whilst we have hundreds of thousands coming in with no checks or quarantine, it really doesn't matter what Cummings did. And quarantine doesn't mean what the government plans from 8 June. Travellers to self isolate after reaching their destination (home, hotel, etc). Likely getting there on public transport.

Discobar · 24/05/2020 18:14

@hadenoughfornow - It would be idiotic to not actually look at the figures

Remember - Anger leads to the dark side of the force.

Peace

Redwinestillfine · 24/05/2020 18:28

Lots of people I know who were obeying lockdown to the letter are so Insensed over this they are talking about picking and choosing what rules they keep now. For others this is just the excuse they need to flout the rules further. How are the police supposed to police this? It's not so much what he did. It's the hipocracy and trying to cover up that's made everyone mad.

yogz1976 · 25/05/2020 10:32

The thing that really boiled my piss was knowing that every word of Boris' defense of Cummings would have been penned by Cummings himself.

NiknicK · 25/05/2020 10:43

You should respect lockdown for the sake of your own family and those around you. The way I see it I’m not suddenly going to change my stance on things and go and see friends and family putting them at risk. He may have chosen to break the rules but does that mean you have to?
