I’ve never been in such pain in my life as I have been today. My neck/throat is swollen so much I am unrecognisable. My throat is so painful I can’t eat swallow at all. Every bit of my body aches and is in such pain. My eyes head back legs everywhere. I don’t have a cough or a fever although I have had chills all day and Keep feeling hot then cold. Is this coronavirus? I’m assuming it’s just another nasty virus as it doesn’t fit with a lot of it.

I actually had thought I’d had coronavirus back in March and self isolated before lockdown.

I’ve only seen 3 people since restrictions were eased. And that has been outdoors socially distanced.

Doesn’t sound like it imho

NumbsMet · 23/05/2020 22:01

Has the swelling been all day? The first thing that came to mind is 'allergic reaction' when I read this. Either way it does sound as though you should call 111.

DownWhichOfLate · 23/05/2020 22:03

What?! No - it doesn’t sound like “it” but it certainly sounds like you need medical attention immediately!

zippyswife · 23/05/2020 22:17

Really? I’ve never felt so unwell. Earlier I thought of calling 111 but didn’t.

Tonsillitis?
If you have an infection it can cause chills

Keepdistance · 23/05/2020 22:19

Can you talk?
Maybe you have glandular fever or mumps?

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 23/05/2020 22:19

Quartz2208 · 23/05/2020 22:19

banjaxxed · 23/05/2020 22:19

Sounds like tonsillitis to me

It makes me feel like death would be a welcome relief

Overseasmom100 · 23/05/2020 22:22

Tonsilitus maybe you will need anti biotics or mumps? Take a photo for yr gp and email to them

Nochangeplease · 23/05/2020 22:42

Sounds like tonsillitis to me. Can you see white spots on your tonsils? The chills would be due to the fever bought on by infection

Haybo26 · 23/05/2020 22:44

These are all exactly the same symptoms as what I used to get with every bout of tonsillitis. Had them removed thankfully 4 years ago.

catsandlavender · 23/05/2020 22:48

I bet it’s tonsillitis. Absolute hell.

BanginChoons · 23/05/2020 22:49

Yes, I would say tonsilitis too. I was so poorly with it a couple of years ago. You will need some antibiotics.

NumbsMet · 23/05/2020 23:05

What made you decide not to call 111? You should definitely call them OP. They will definitely help you.

lauryloo · 23/05/2020 23:06

Definitely sounds like tonsillitis . It really is horrible

zippyswife · 24/05/2020 00:10

Get well soon OP. You've done the right thing getting help. Flowers

Northernsoullover · 24/05/2020 00:18

It certainly does sound like tonsillitis. However symptoms seem to vary ridiculously in covid-19 cases. One friend (a carer) had sinus pain and another (nurse) had gastric symptoms. They were told by managers that they weren't Covid symptoms and should therefore work. They both (after a fight) arranged tests and both tested positive. I think people should be mindful about saying symptoms don't sound like Covid in case people don't isolate.
I hope 111 phone soon OP.

zippyswife · 24/05/2020 07:28

Thanks again all for your help. Gp phoned and said tonsillitis. He’s written a prescription for me to collect and told me to take ibruprofen which seems to ease the pain better than paracetamol.
