He made a second trip up to Durham in April

Back in 1982 Lord Carrington resigned because the Foreign Office hadn't seen the Falklands War coming. It seems like another world now. Cummings has driven a coach and horses through the government's advice on what to do during the lockdown. Tonight it's revealed he was back in Durham strolling through a bluebell wood within a couple of days of his return to work in Downing Street, and he was also seen in Barnard Castle on Easter Sunday, at a time when he has previously been described as so ill he couldn't get out of bed.

If it's true his sister lives in Didcot and was also in Durham in early April and it was their mother's birthday around then - hmmm. His wife has family in London who could have been asked to look after their son if they were both too ill to do it.

Surely he has to go now?

Articles “based on hearsay” usually require sources to sign a witness statement swearing they’ll stand by their words in court

At the Corona briefing today Jennie H kept using 'safeguarding' to explain why DC did nothing wrong, and mentioned life and death situations. Neither of which applied in the Cummings case. It's an absolute farce.

OpthalmosVerde · 24/05/2020 03:31

If struck me watching the briefing that none of the people speaking seemed to understand what “safeguarding” means.

DemolitionBarbie · 24/05/2020 03:32

Why does this surprise anyone? Cummings hacked the brexit ref and was held in contempt of parliament.

He's already shown who he is. He thinks rules are for idiots. He's the cherry on a rancid, rancid political cake.

@FinnefanFox they live close to the Honest Lawyer. Have done for years.

FinnefanFox · 24/05/2020 08:51

@downtheplug I never knew, my son is at Durham Uni and he never knew either, not that he has been thee since it's closed!

I'm trying to work out just what it is about Dominic Cummings that cause Boris Johnson and his cabinet, the scientific and health chiefs to consider him untouchable. What is it about him that they are all prepared to put their reputations on the line to justify his law breaking? It is both farcical but disturbing in almost cult like behaviour.

IWouldBeSuperb · 24/05/2020 09:12

Presumably just the fact that he must know where so many bodies are buried, the consequences of letting him go are even worse than this shitshow!?!

mrshoho · 24/05/2020 09:22

Grin I'll look forward to the reading his memoirs

Me too Verde.
