I know we’ve been joking about it.....but seriously, where is he?

I can’t remember the last time I saw Boris on the daily briefing.

Surely, as the Prime Minister he has a duty to show his face and demonstrate his presence in this crisis?

Hopefully he's on the moon.

WrongKindOfFace · 22/05/2020 18:31

If he takes all the paternity leave he's accumulated, we won't see him till 2030 grin

Add on the parental leave and we won’t see him until 2035, or thereabouts.

WrongKindOfFace · 22/05/2020 18:33

I think he should at least show his face and give a rousing speech or something.

I think he’s shown he’s no Churchill. Waffle, waffle, bluster, bluster.

raviolidreaming · 22/05/2020 18:44

Pandemic or no pandemic I bet they've got at least two nannies'

Absolutely. There's zero chance that he's up overnight for nappy changes and winding. Fucks sake. How people still defend him and this government is a complete mystery to me.

SouthernComforts · 22/05/2020 18:46

This is GOLD

GatoFofo · 22/05/2020 18:56

I heard that he’s just started a 10 day Whit holiday with his family. No idea if it’s true, but it mist be at least 8 weeks since his last holiday in the midst of a global pandemic..

frumpety · 22/05/2020 19:02

Boris is great at being Boris. Boris unfortunately isn't great at being the PM of the UK during a crisis. A useful tool if the times are good, best kept hidden if they aren't. He will be back out with his razzle dazzle, hair cut with nail scissors in the dark, foppish, mangling the Classics, persona just as soon as things seem a bit more upbeat Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 22/05/2020 19:21

Oh don't be so ridiculous !!!!

Don't you realise it's Dilyns BIRTHDAY!!!

He's throwing a party for him and he was down Waitrose earlier getting a specially made peanut butter cake for him

madasamarchhare · 22/05/2020 19:31

It wouldn’t be so bad if senior members of the cabinet were leading the briefings instead of some of the ministers we’ve seen this week. I always breathe a sigh of relief when Chris Witty and Patrick Valance appear. They are cautious, as is the nature of their job, but they are clear, concise and answer the bloody questions!

MrsWhites · 22/05/2020 19:35

Definitely not helping with the baby, did you see his interview on This Morning when he refused to answer whether he would help with nappies, he couldn’t have looked less interested in babies if he tried! Possibly the reason he seems to have so many of them who don’t seem to like him very much!

PicsInRed · 22/05/2020 19:37

He always seems breathless.

Hopefully not lung scarring.

Schmoana · 22/05/2020 19:48

He’s doing brexit. That’s all he’s interested in. It’s why UK govt were so late getting to grips with Covid.

strugglingwithdeciding · 22/05/2020 20:42

I'm hoping he is working behind the scenes on all the things that need looking at and working on future plans , there's no need for him to be on daily briefings ( infact no need for daily briefings now ) he will be only appearing when major changes are made

SquishySquirmy · 22/05/2020 20:53

Bust with the baby!! 😂😂😂😂

As if he's ever been that involved with any of his kids when they were young. Would be shocking timing to decide that NOW was the time he would step up and get his hands dirty as a father.

His absence is true to form. It's just Boris being Boris.

By the time he does take his "paternity leave" he will probably have found someone more fun to spend it with than Carrie and the baby.

SquishySquirmy · 22/05/2020 20:54

My post should say Busy no bust!!

palacegirl77 · 22/05/2020 21:15

For the sake of his newborn son I hope he is having treatment for his alcohol addiction.

Nonononon · 22/05/2020 21:22

having treatment for his alcohol addiction

Really?

Tavannach · 22/05/2020 21:23

It's a global pandemic.
Boris is on a ten day "Whitsun break".

Nonononon · 22/05/2020 21:24

I mean that as a question, not a sarky "really? Did you have to?" kind of way

(Remembering that you can never be too careful how you word things on mumsnet)

I just never knew or have heard that before.. explains why he always has that just rolled out of bed look though..

Scottishgirl85 · 22/05/2020 21:35

The briefings are basically reading a script and responding to questions using a script... anyone could do it, I imagine he is hard at work! Also, my colleagues are only just returning to work after having CV before him. They are still struggling with breathlessness, palpitations and exhaustion. I imagine he is still feeling pretty shit.

Kittenlicker · 22/05/2020 21:40

‘I imagine he is hard at work’ almost as funny as I imagine he’s struggling with a newborn...

Redcrayons · 22/05/2020 21:47

‘Hard at work’ and ‘struggling with a newborn. Grin.

Even the orange buffoon manages to show up every day.

QueenofmyPrinces · 22/05/2020 21:49

Maybe I’m expecting too much, but as the head of our Country, the man who is supposed to be leading us through this crisis, then he should be showing his face.

One of his catchphrase is “We’re in this together.”

Certainly doesn’t feel like it.

It feels like us and his Cabinet are in it whilst he hides away somewhere.

Seeing as the quarantine for people coming into the country is from June 8th, I reckon he is on an exotic island with the baby and his floozy!
