Royal mail deliveries

They are really struggling at the moment aren't they? I've a couple of things due to have arrived at the beginning of the week, including contact lenses that haven't arrived yet and now clearly won't until next Tuesday at the earliest. Important letters are taking several days to arrive. One that I know of has vanished altogether.

I'd been feeling fairly relaxed about that, but today I'm feeling really antsy and frustrated with it.

It is a bit random.

The postal service has been hit hard by covid in my area.
The postmen have to sort their own mail including parcels ready to deliver. They are apparently all on top of each other in the sorting offices and there have been several outbreaks.
Our postman friend has been quite poorly with it and lots of staff are off sick or self isolating at the moment.

It’s been hit and miss with our post but,generally, I was impressed how promptly it arrived. Also things I’ve sent, got to the destination within the normal timescale.
I think they are on reduced staff numbers so it can’t be easy.

We haven't had any delay at all yet, our regular postman and the main regular parcel couriers haven't been ill, so it might just be some areas that have been affected.

Our Mail has really slowed up in the last week, we’re still waiting for a couple of items which would normally have arrived at the end of last week and we’ve received several things where the envelopes have been badly torn for some reason.

I haven’t noticed my impact on our post as of yet

Ours is quite bad. Mail & parcels take up to 3 weeks to get here 2nd class & 1st class a week to 8 days.
I’ve decided to stop online buying.

Our post is patchy. I ordered an item on ebay that came from Wuhan very quickly whilst an item ordered on the dame day, coming from less than 30 miles away took weeks to arrive.

The items we’re waiting for still haven’t arrived, the post has just been delivered on our close, so it’ll be Tuesday now at the earliest that they arrive making it two weeks from dispatch.

My post seems to be coming quicker then normal. Everything is coming on time except a couple bits I ordered on eBay from China but that’s to be expected

Here, we have deliveries on two or three days a week, spread around different parts of the district. I believe because many people are off work.

I admire the Royal Mail, and the utility companies, for keeping things going. If essential services stop working, the country could quickly descend into some very nasty problems.
