Push back on dates?

I'm reading the daily briefing and he's just said some shops open, if criteria is met, on 1st July. I had in my head 1st June from last week's big briefing. I don't particularly like shopping so I'm not disappointed but I think this seems a quiet step back unless I heard it wrong the first time last week. Will certainly push the pubs back if we haven't even tried the shops?

He’s probably got it wrong.

Nearlyadoctor · 18/05/2020 17:43

It was stated as 1st July last week, some retail, possibly hairdressers etc

cheninblanc · 18/05/2020 17:44

Def says 4th July

1st June date was possible date for some school years and yes sorry 4th July not the 1st

AvoidingRealHumans · 18/05/2020 17:48

I definitely heard June for non essential shops. If you google, it will show articles from after Boris' speech and they say June.

They may have changed it now "based on the science" or its even more likely that the person has made a mistake

1st june was for
some school years.
Sport to be allowed to take place behind closed doors for broadcast.
For Shops it says the following;
Non-essential shops could reopen from 1 June on a phased basis. Pubs, cafes and restaurants, and beauty services would not be allowed to reopen at this point because the risk of transmission in these environments is higher.

The the 4th of July I think they are hopefully going to try and open things like hair salons, restaurants, pubs etc if it is at all possible at that time

On that then they've pushed it back following today's briefing. Very quietly done or he's got it wrong

I think he just got the month wrong

covetingthepreciousthings · 18/05/2020 18:08

I work in non essential retail and my work are gearing up for it being the beginning of June dependent on an announcement. So it was definitely 1st June phased opening to begin with, so will be interested to hear if it has changed again or if he got it wrong.
