Has anyone's school confirmed a timetable for going back?

I have a pre school kid who is due to go back 1st June. Other than being asked whether we want him to go I've not heard anything from the school as to exactly when and how he will go back. Has anyone's school sent out a timetable or a plan yet e.g. certain days/hours etc ?

Ours confirmed our usual 3 nursery days. Reduced hours of 9:50 (staggered drop off) to 4:00. No breakfast and no tea.

Better than nothing, haven’t told DS yet in case it doesn’t happen

I'm expecting to hear from the DCs school later this week. I'm supposed to be having a telephone call with DD's teacher later in the week too, so I expect there will be more details then.

Our school sent an email at the beginning of last week saying that they were preparing to open from 1st June to Reception, Y1 and Y6. We haven't had any detail about logistics, which groups returning when etc. Have other primary schools given more concrete details yet?

Boris isn't saying if the R level is at the right level until 28th May.
Operation last minute scramble.

DD2's (4yo) nursery will be in bubbles of 4. They will still get to do usual activities (everything Milton-ed between bubbles), still visit the adjoining farm although obviously no softplay etc. Not much change other than they will be taken from the gate, rather than their room door and all blankets and soft toys are gone. They aren't fully confirming the start date until next Thurs, but otherwise set for a return on 1st June.

DD1's school have asked if we are interested in sending her back, and we have had little else. All I know is we will be asked a definite yes or no soon. If yes they will be expected to be in full time hours. If no then the kids staying home will be getting far less work sent home than we're currently getting. Obviously max bubble of 15 etc. I hope they are taking a similar approach to learning resources as nursery.

It's extremely variable across the LEAs and even individual schools. Don't compare your own schools' responses with others.

This is because some LEAs are not allowing a return based on cases, some are only allowing a school to do so based on their own risk assessments, some schools have particular cohorts of pupils, staffing levels and space that affects risk assessments.

1st June was the earliest they were possibly going to be allowed to take more pupils. This has been spun into a grand reopening by some media outlets.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 22/05/2020 14:27

Our school have been in touch today.
They're aiming for Reception to start 8/6. They'll be split in to 3 bubbles & will be in Mon-Thur, with staggered drop off & collection times (that are tbc). If that goes well y1 will go back on 15/6, same days. They're being a bit evasive about y6, have said the earliest they could go back would be 22/6 but if they do it will be on a rota basis.

Slidetotheleft · 22/05/2020 14:29

Ours are back full time. But only 12 to a bubble. Any more than that and they will have to rota them on and off.

Only 50% of parents bothered replying to the survey and half of them said they weren't sure if they were sending them back

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 22/05/2020 14:31

The tone of the email had changed today too w/regard to them saying dc are strongly encouraged to attend & only those who are shielding/ have a shielded household member should be staying at home the fact that you won't be fined if you don't send them was right at the bottom of the email in a smaller font

ChablisandCrisps · 22/05/2020 14:36

My YR child's school sent us an email today - YR and Y1 will be in Monday to Friday 9.30-2.30. Y6 will be in 8.50-3.20. Packed lunches only (they will provide them for those who can't) and to bring suncream etc for being outdoors a lot. We are absolutely sending her back as well as our 3 year old to nursery, they are shadows of their former selves at them moment it is awful Sad

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 22/05/2020 14:37

My year 12 son has. Every day from 1 -3

Iknewyouwerewaitingforme · 22/05/2020 14:40

Mine have just kindly told us that DS-Year 1 will be the year they are not allowing to return this term.

I am absolutely devastated.

chopc · 22/05/2020 14:40

@EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall how are they planning to keep students in a "bubble"? Not many would do exactly the same subjects? And I thought you were not supposed to change subjects nor teachers?

Genuinely interested

cabbageking · 22/05/2020 14:42

We have a plan but

  1. the LA has to check and agree all risk assessments first.
  2. Nothing is confirmed until the Government statement on the 28th.
PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 22/05/2020 14:56

My y12 is getting Microsoft Teams lessons from 1st June as are y10.

MrsWhites · 22/05/2020 15:01

@BernardsarenotalwaysSaints our school have also changed the tone of their emails this week towards ‘strongly encouraged and any concerns regarding shielding pupils or family members should be discussed with school’.

aceyace · 22/05/2020 15:12

Email this week saying 8 children each returning in yr 1 and reception and 12 in year 6 so do-able in a small country school

chopc · 22/05/2020 15:14

@PickUpAPickUpAPenguin what have they been receiving so far?

Bugslydoo · 22/05/2020 15:17

My dd is going back on the 11th. Two days a week-she is overjoyed about that! It’s a special needs school and only have 8 per class anyway

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 22/05/2020 15:38

MrsWhites I've just been chatting to a friend who's in a different LA & she's said it's the same with them too. I wonder if it's come from "higher up" to try & get as many back as possible? We were planning on sending our Rec dc anyway but I found the change quite off putting in a way, I'm not sure why.
