Will key worker kids be in a separate bubble?

Does anyone know if children of key workers will join a bubble with children from their class from 1st June?

Or will they stay with the children of other key workers in a mixed age/year group class?

I'm asking because my Reception age DD is currently at school because DH is a key worker.

Apologies is this is covered in another thread.

At my son's school key worker children will be in a separate bubble because they are offered full time and extended hours whereas the others are being offered part time and shortened hours.

Ask your school.

All schools are doing it slightly differently depending on their risk assessment so you'd need to ask them I think.

This is a good question, and one I hadn't considered, as my Y1 daughter been going since March. I just presumed she'd be in with her class, but maybe not. Will ask school tomorrow

In our school they will be kept in a separate mixed bubble. They will be given priority care with slightly longer hours and not allowed to mix with others due to perceived risk of picking something up from their key worker parents.
The day will be different for them though. We have put on all kinds of ‘fun’ activities for them over the previous weeks as we have not been allowed to teach them. These activities will not be possible under the proposed guidelines which is sad.
It was lovely to give these children a bit of joy while their parents faced such sadness at work.

@IHateCoronaVirus I get the bit about hours but the bit about them being separate because of perceived risk of picking something up from their keyworker parents doesn’t quite make sense does it -
I’m a keyworker at higher risk of picking up the virus but my dd hasn’t been going in thus far because dh has been wfh.

Sharky if you haven’t been sending her in as a keyworker child I doubt they would count her as a keyworker child. My guess is she will be placed with her normal year group.

Definitely in separate bubble at ours. The key worker kids we have in are split into groups of 5, and they don't mix with the other groups either.

What about kids who do actually have key worker parents but haven't been in school? I know many parents who are key workers, but haven't sent their kids to school yet for various reasons. Come June 1st, will they be in with their normal class?

In my dds school they are stopping childcare first all key workers children in yrs R,1 and 6 so it will be school hours only.
At my school key worker parents will get a choice of continuing childcare or going in class bubbles (for fewer hours)

I can’t imagine any school will ask key worker children who haven’t used childcare so far to start doing it now.

At my school the children who are already been attending will be in a separate bubble, because they are eligible for before and after school care.

I suspect each school will have a different way of doing things, and the only way to know for sure will be to contact your child's school.

Thanks @HeyChief, that makes sense. I'll suggest this to our school. They are in the process of working all this out which is why I haven't asked them yet. I'm hoping DD will have the choice because all her friends who she is missing will be in her normal class. I also totally understand this is a difficult situation and managing risk is important.

In our school, the plan is for them to be separate at the moment because the key worker groups will be running full time and the year groups may only be part time.

But parents will be able to choose whether they want their child to remain in the key worker group or join year group. They won't be able to dip in and out of both though as they are not allowed to be part of two "bubbles."
