Volunteering to help with secondary maths!

Hi everyone! I’ve been a long time lurker but decided to create an account after reading about how some people are struggling with home schooling their children.

I’m a secondary maths teacher and as we’ve been advised by SLT not to have zoom meetings/lessons with our children (safeguarding issues) I’ve been making them mini videos where I solve maths problems and narrate as I’m working through them. The camera is focused on my paper/mini whiteboard from above so they can see me completing each step of the working out.

I thought it might be helpful for some users here if I could extend this to your dc as well. If there’s a maths problem they’re finding difficult you can send it to me and I’ll be happy to record the working out for them and give them another example or something similar to try themselves. Obviously I’m not sure on the logistics just yet (depends on demand I suppose).

Lastly, a lot of parents I’ve spoken to (we call our form every other week) have said that they’re struggling with homeschooling. This is normal! Otherwise there’d be no need for schools! So please do not hesitate to reach out for help to your children’s teachers. I know I speak for the vast majority of us when I say we are still working full time and are happy to help students with the work we set, as long as they’re putting in some of the effort too.

Sorry if this is the wrong section, this is my first post! If it belongs elsewhere please let me know
