Did anyone watch the Welsh lockdown exit announcement?

I only caught the end and Mark Drakeford responding to some press questions, but I’m quite impressed with the Welsh governments handling so far. I’m always grateful to live here, but especially so at the moment.

Did anyone catch his response to the journalist asking about comms with Boris et al? I’m sure MD said he hadn’t heard from them in a week?!

The whole speech was on twitter earlier, on the welsh gov page - I only watched the education bit as had a work zoom after about it

My MIL will be devastated that she still can’t see DS but the whole plan seems white sensible?

Wishy washy, one week behind Boris exit strategy, in an attempt to look like he knows what he’s doing. Couldn’t say how the science was different for Wales. It seems political rather than meaningful to me.

Ahh I didn’t see the beginning so missed that bit. I thought the modelling suggested wales hasn’t reached the peak yet so that’s why? I’m in north wales though, so it could be different up here. Our local hospital has gone from two ‘red’wards to ten in a week.

I’ve come to the conclusion, I just don’t like any of them (Politicians) lol! So probably not worth listening to me anyway.

BrieAndChilli · 15/05/2020 22:15

I read earlier that a Cardiff hospital is very close to being overwhelmed so I am assuming that we are behind London in terms of the peak etc.

AlohaMolly · 15/05/2020 23:54

I don’t like them either really, maybe I’m subconsciously desperately trying to find a decent one? Or maybe Boris just makes it so easy to look better than him Grin

I really dislike how whoever leads the press conferences don’t specify that, when they’re talking, it’s largely England focused. They said today that the R is down blah blah and that gives such a message, coupled with the fact that you can drive as far as you want for ‘exercise’ in England, that I think we will be swamped with tourists this weekend.

I'm not impressed with the Welsh Government's response to the crisis. People have been criticising Matt Hancock for missing his testing target by up to 20% yet haven't noticed that tests in Wales are falling 90% short of Vaughan Gething's target.

AlohaMolly · 16/05/2020 14:22

I definitely hadn’t noticed that!

@BrieAndChilli I read that article and it was nearer the peak that it was in danger of being overwhelmed. I'm quite impressed with Mark Drakeford.

Is it this guy?
www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-wales-politics-52396683
Who on April 24 said that he wanted to "lift restrictions in Wales at the end of the current 3 week period" Which I think was around the 30 April.
He has flip flopped so much I dont really think he can make his mind up what he wants.
