So if cleaners are on furlough but don't want to return to work will they carry on bring paid furlough. It's not very clear.

Littlemissdaredevil make sure the quote includes uplift of existing carpet and underlay and disposal of these items too. Yes it may cost a bit more but with tips being mostly shut still makes sense imo. we had carpet fitted last week, it is like walking on clouds

I don't think you are supposed to go into a home of someone who is shielding though.

Nonononon · 15/05/2020 13:17

I had two rooms fitted with new flooring two weeks ago.
It was the first week they were allowed back apparantly. It was fine, I just let them in and told them what rooms etc then stayed out of the way (which you would anyway when getting a new floor fitted..). They shouted that they were done, one left and one stayed outside near the front door. I had a look round, all happy with the job. Handed over the money and that was that.
I had a wipe down with some bleachy water, mopped new floor etc but that was just an extra precaution.

You can’t choose not to go to work just because you don’t want to.

Anyone in the Sussex area had carpets fitted??? We are moving into our (currently empty) self build in about 2 weeks and desperate for carpets before we move in. The company we were planning to use are still shut

Viviennemary · 15/05/2020 15:26

That's what I thought daisypond. But our ones work for an agency and they've been furloughed so not coming. I would probably have them back if allowed but they're furloughed.

Bubblebee7 · 15/05/2020 15:26

Yes as long as they wash their hands before and after it’s fine.

Littlemissdaredevil · 15/05/2020 16:22

There no carpet in my house when I bought it. There was some underlay downstairs but it stank of damp as the house had been unoccupied so it went to the top before it shut

Peggysgettingcrazy · 15/05/2020 16:46

But that's because the agency is keeping them furloughed.

If the company wanted them back at work and they said just said no, they would be no longer entitled.

The agency needs to realise peolle will go else where if they don't start bringing peolle back.

I want my carpets done, local companies to me said they can't fit carpets atm but are offering discounts if you pay now.

Lardlizard · 15/05/2020 21:33
