New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

I’m really getting irritated with the continual pin pricks and itches. Was extremities before but now basically anywhere in the body with nerve endings.. Hmm

mumlurker · 20/05/2020 16:32

@Moodgie same, i don't have shallow breathing, I just sort of feel like I'm not getting enough air. I have occasional bouts of breathlessness where it feels like my diaphragm is dropping really rapidly, if that makes sense. I'm week 9.5 I think.

Khaleesimother · 20/05/2020 16:50

@alittleprivacy a friend just sent me this link. Superdrug have started selling the antibody kits, looks like they have sold out for the moment but sounds like they are getting more in.

It's the Abbott one

Needsomegoodnews · 20/05/2020 17:16

Hi all, I’m just past 9 weeks post symptom onset and overall have been feeling better for the past few days now. My heart rate is generally more settled but still has an occasional crazy half hour where it races a bit when doing very little. Shortness of breath and chest pain have improved and chest pain has been occasional stabbing pains without the constant sternum pain I was having. Temp has settled after about 10 days of on off low grade fever (it had settled for a couple of weeks before that after being constant over the early weeks). I’m bracing myself for another dip but hoping it won’t come (or at least won’t be as depressing as weeks 6-8).

I don’t hold out much hope for the government testing strategy as I booked a home test (even though should be negative by now) and considering they say to test within 3-5 days of symptom onset, after 48 hours the test hasn’t arrived - so those who try to book after a couple of days of symptoms risk missing the test window anyway!

I’m seriously considering trying the Abbott antibody test but as others have said, I don’t know what I’ll do if it’s negative - my lungs are screwed so would feel very vulnerable!

MillStone · 20/05/2020 17:18

Don’t suppose anyone has been prescribed propranolol, for their heart symptoms?

Did it work out for you?

Mine’s in regards to a strong heart beat with occasional racing.

mumlurker · 20/05/2020 17:23

@millstone I was prescribed it for anxiety (rolls eyes) early on. I take a low dose sometimes if palpitations are stopping me from sleeping. I have the thudding sensation rather than a really fast heart rate, although my heart rate is elevated beyond its norm. They can cause temporary poor circulation though, and I believe some people find they cause insomnia. Ive been taking 5mg at night

LetsBeSensible · 20/05/2020 17:23

@Mittens030869 well done to you! I went out to lie in the sun for an hour yesterday, then I had to sleep for 3 hours. Taking it easy today. I’m going to email my GP tomorrow and check in with them, it’s coming up to 4 weeks with no voice, I have not had the bloods done (as I can’t get up in the morning and in fact the walk to the GP and back might finish me off)

MillStone · 20/05/2020 17:30

@mumlurker,

Thanks that’s really helpful. Mine is for the same thumping reason. It’s unbearable.

Ive got 2 x 10mg up to 3 time’s p/day. Do you split a tablet for the 5mg?

Problem is I have Raynaud's, so I’m a bit worried about the circulation thing. Don’t think my Dr knew this upon prescription. I also have quite low blood pressure.

mumlurker · 20/05/2020 17:33

@millstone yep split the tablet. I don't think 10mg is a large dose though so might be fine as is. I have Raynaud's too, if you can cope with cold feet at night shouldn't be too bad...!

mumlurker · 20/05/2020 17:34

I also have low blood pressure, or at least, I did before covid. I suspect it's gone up since I got ill. Actually, I had wondered if the thumping feeling was a blood pressure thing?

Norugratsatall · 20/05/2020 18:19

Hello all, I hope you've all had a good day and been able to enjoy the sunshine a little.

Am back from the hospital. Blood, chest X-ray and ECG all clear thankfully. No sign of infection. So diagnosis was pleurisy and all my other symptoms he put down to post viral. Which is fair enough.... that's what the evidence pointed to but if that's the case. Should I not be getting a bit better each day - not these peaks and troughs..... ?!

I wasn't offered a swap test as no sign of infection in bloods which is fair enough but I now honestly don't know what to think...... he just said to rest which is exactly what I have been doing.

godhelpusall · 20/05/2020 18:27

@Norugratsatall - good news on clear tests. Well, except you are left with a 🤔. It's all very mysterious! I'd love it if someone could categorically state this is post viral and it will just take time.

Moodgie · 20/05/2020 18:31

@Norugratsatall That’s great news everything came clear. What symptoms are you having at the moment?

Norugratsatall · 20/05/2020 18:34

@Moodgie chest pain (pleurisy) a little SOB. Neuro symptoms such as tinnitus and a slight loss of motor control in right arm, headaches and fatigue and a little nausea. That's it!

So I'm not suffering nearly as much as some of you are but I'm not sleeping and I have awful brain fog.

Moodgie · 20/05/2020 18:44

Thank you for letting me know, I just so badly want to be postviral @Norugratsatall. What is your sob like?

Egghead68 · 20/05/2020 20:27

That’s really good news @Norugratsatall!

Norugratsatall · 20/05/2020 20:27

@Moodgie it's quite unpredictable actually. Some days it's ok and other days just talking can make me breathless. Like everything with this virus!

Norugratsatall · 20/05/2020 20:29

Thank you @Egghead68 - I was relieved that I'm no longer infectious albeit not symptomatic!

Norugratsatall · 20/05/2020 20:38

Not asymptomatic that should say!

Mittens030869 · 20/05/2020 21:25

I'm still waiting for my result . I'll chase it up tomorrow. My DDs' headteacher is worried about my COVID-19 symptoms despite me having had them for so long. My DH and DD1 have had no symptoms at all, though DD2 was ill for 4 days.

I'm hardly likely to be infectious now after so many weeks!!!

The antibody tests would really help too.

godhelpusall · 20/05/2020 21:39

Does anyone here get quite hungry? I have a strange relationship with food these days I'm either nauseous and unable to eat or ravenous and feel a bit low blood sugar if I don't eat soon

Fishflakes · 20/05/2020 21:43

I have mild nausea most days and still eat double breakfasts, snack constantly despite hardly moving. I’ve decided it’s a COVID symptom so I am going with it Smile

hollieberrie · 20/05/2020 21:57

Yes always starving! and lots of blood sugar crashes
@Norugratsatall Glad it was all ok at A and E, I imagine it was pretty scary going. Have a belated virtual hug.

My ears and balance are worse than ever today. I'm trying not to let it get me down but god knows when I'll work or drive again at this rate.

Whatnext2018 · 20/05/2020 23:01

I’ve started to have a sugar in my coffee each morning for the first time in my life as I feel so woozy in the mornings.
I really lost my appetite at the weekend but it seems to be getting back to normal. Weeks ago I had periods of constantly eating. It’s such a relief so many have similar symptoms.
Does anyone have the dizziness, has been over a week now and tends to be worse in the early evening and mornings, I feel really really concious when walking and have to keep focused.
