Genuine question - how can you socially distance playing basketball, bearing in mind it is a team sport and that is often played indoors?

I get golf, fishing etc but just don't understand how basketball can be seen as a 'safe' sport atm......

You have to play with your own household don't you?

You would need a pretty big household to make up the teams?!!!!! But get where you are coming from......

Where’s it been said that basketball is allowed?

I’ve not seen any team sports mentioned as being allowed.

Minor It's mentioned in point 1.1 here

www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do

With members of your own family, I guess you could play round one hoop e.g. passing, tackling, shooting, going for a rebound etc, rather than a full-on game on an entire court. With someone outside your household, I have no idea how you would keep 2m apart unless you're just passing to each other and taking it in turns to shoot, so not moving much at all. Can't see much point or fun in that!

Thanks Cornish.

Yes I suppose the intention is to allow a few people from one household to play around one hoop.
