Who has had it mildly?

Frazzled2207 · 13/05/2020 11:52

Just after some reassurance as am convinced I will get it sooner or later. Hear many stories about people being desperately ill or dying but not so much about the apparently huge majority who get it mildly but admittedly many/most of those might not know for sure they’ve had it.

Anyone had it mildly and willing to share their experiences? Also are you worried that you might have inadvertently infected others?

I haven't but I know plenty of people who have had it mildly - they're generally NHS staff so have all been tested. A couple felt a bit tired for a week or so after the virus but we're generally fine. Lots of pics of people sitting in the garden with a large gin to 'help their recovery'.

DahliaDay · 13/05/2020 11:54

Most people seem to say it hit harder than led to believe, mainly the length of time to recover

Those who want lockdown ended and kids back in childcare are saying ‘most people get it mildly’

HAB86 · 13/05/2020 11:59

I haven’t had it but have had 4 cases in the family (2 confirmed with tests & 2 suspected) all 4 have had it ‘mildly’ ie flu like symptoms for a week and feeling run down for another few weeks. Weirdly non of the 4 have passed it on to family they live with or if they have the family members had no symptoms!

Frazzled2207 · 13/05/2020 12:03

@HAB86
That’s reassuring that people they lived with didn’t even get ill but being flat out for a week and a few weeks to recover doesn’t spike that “mild”’to me. I was wondering if some might have had a light cough and fever and that was it. I have flu once and it floored me for a fortnight

Doesn’t seem that

@Frazzeled2207
I agree not mild really but they all said it wasn’t as bad as flu but dragged on longer for sure.

Spottyspottyladybird · 13/05/2020 12:21

I had it mildly is that's reassuring - lots of people are and have that I know of

WreckTangle95 · 13/05/2020 12:22

My good friend is a GP, she was tested for it as it was mandatory and the result was positive. She said she had a bad head for one day but apart from that she was absolutely fine. Her husband had a mild sore throat but no other symptoms. Their two children had no symptoms either.

rosiepony · 13/05/2020 12:23

Me and my whole family. It wasn’t as bad as flu and some days before I knew what was going on, I had a glass of wine whilst feeling a bit rough.

Tiredmum100 · 13/05/2020 12:26

I know of a few nurses, one barely had any symptoms, still able to clean etc. The other is a week and a half on and short of breath on exertion but generally ok. Another nurse was very ill at home for about 3 weeks (but remained at home).

MrsCollinssettled · 13/05/2020 12:26

End March. No temp but everything else. 4 days of feeling rough, couple of days feeling better. Then bed bound for another 4 days before finally getting better. Still feeling tired and coughing occasionally.

yearinyearout · 13/05/2020 12:27

Friend had it and it was just a dry cough for a couple of days, mild temp, bit tired but over it after a week. At the same time (I'd been with friend the week before) I had a headache for a couple of days, dry throat, off my food and a bit shivery for one day. Still don't know if it was that but I'd be interested in an antibody test when one becomes available.

MrsMozartMkII · 13/05/2020 12:29

I'm pretty sure I've had it.

Very mild version of all the symptoms. Took a few weeks for them all to bob off.

It was back in Feb/March time. Fine now.

AlohaMolly · 13/05/2020 12:29

I’m pretty certain we’ve all had it. DS had a mild temp on and off for about a week and I had a cough but very sore lungs, I can’t think of a better way of describing it than that. I wasn’t debilitated but it was about a month ago and I still get hit over the head with fatigue every now and then and I still have a niggly cough.

I assume I’ve had a mild case, but I don’t suppose I’ll ever actually know?!

TeddyIsaHe · 13/05/2020 12:45

My sister had it (tested for it as she is a ward sister) and she had a headache, bit of fatigue and lost her sense of taste for a week. She was back at work 7 days later as per guidelines and has had no lasting ill effects. She also has asthma that she still needs inhalers for sometimes.

emmskie03 · 13/05/2020 12:55

Husband is suspected of having it. He was unwell, felt better then was unwell again. He had temps, a cough and felt wiped out. He says the feeling wiped out was the worst bit.

The rest of us were absolutely fine. I assume we were asymptomatic. Usually any bug affects all of us except daddy!

I am in an at risk group. We are hoping that he did have it as it would be a relief in terms of my health.

Bananasandorangesss · 13/05/2020 14:22

Me and my DM (70s) both had it mildly

Givenupno · 13/05/2020 14:25

I had it confirmed by test.

Stomach upset for a few days, slight fever, slightly tight chest.

I thinks it’s safe to say my partner will have had it as we share bed etc but she showed no symptoms at all

Frazzled2207 · 13/05/2020 14:48

This is reassuring thanks. Ones that did have it did you try and isolate yourselves from your families or not bother? I could avoid my husband at a push but as a sahm no way can I avoid my own kids!

Two hospital pals got tested, had it, had no symptoms. Both in 40s average health etc

Both said would not have known if not tested

Layladylay234 · 13/05/2020 14:58

There was a thread up on here a few weeks back asking people who had actually tested positive for their experiences. It was brilliantly informative. Have a search for something like "those who have tested positive" and you should find it

lazylinguist · 13/05/2020 14:58

I think I had it (though none of my family seemed to catch it from me, although I didn't try and isolate from them - maybe they got it but had no symptoms?). It dragged on for weeks and weeks and was mild in the sense that I wasn't bedridden and I didn't have the scary breathing problems or a fever. It felt like a looong throat infection followed by a cough accompanied by an eye infection and loss of sense of taste and smell.

I still don't know if I really had it, but it was the eyes and loss of smell and taste that make me think it was covid 19. I've never had those symptoms with any other cold/flu etc.

iamapixie · 13/05/2020 15:07

Many of us who think we have had it haven't been tested but:
of the 6 people I know who have now been tested:. 2hcps: fine, though male slightly older hcp did get it worse than younger female one, which would fit with the profile. She barely noticed but had a cough for a couple of days hence the test; whereas he said it was 'man flu' for a few days. 2 asymptomatic; 1 had a temperature, felt like she had a bit of a cold. 1 went into A&E and was admitted for a night. Given an oxygen mask (not a ventilator or ICU or anything like that) but recovered by the following day and back at work (from home!) within a week.
Loads of us in our friendship group think we've had it with very similar symptoms. Probably all caught it in the week before lockdown: headaches, painful eyes, asthmatic DP was tired for a day (had to have a daytime snooze). I lost my sense of smell (as did 1 of the 6 people tested).

Givenupno · 13/05/2020 15:08

I didn’t do anything different after showing symptoms or testing positive around the people who live with me as I think it’s pretty safe to assume they would have already picked it up before any symptoms showed.

Didn’t leave the house obviously while showing any symptoms or for the 14 days after

nocoolnamesleft · 13/05/2020 15:12

The government definition of mild is anyone who doesn't need hospital. So it includes people who've never felt that ill in their life.
