Who has had it mildly?

Just after some reassurance as am convinced I will get it sooner or later. Hear many stories about people being desperately ill or dying but not so much about the apparently huge majority who get it mildly but admittedly many/most of those might not know for sure they’ve had it.

Anyone had it mildly and willing to share their experiences? Also are you worried that you might have inadvertently infected others?

My flu like symptoms and fever lasted 2 weeks but burning lungs and shortness of breath is still ongoing 8 weeks later. Its improving but at a snails pace. Couldn't hardly walk upstairs 4 weeks ago but only struggle with steep hills now. Doctor assumes covid (over the phone 🙄) who knows???

Kitcat122 · 14/05/2020 11:25

Point being whatever I've had would be clinically considered mild as in no hospital treatment needed. However I would be frightened to catch this again. As am slightly concerned about lung damage after so long.

Woodandsky · 14/05/2020 12:16

Those of you still feeling ill weeks later have any of you been to the doctors? Is there anything they can do for the ongoing symptoms?

I think DH had it just before lockdown, picked up a cough from a colleague, I had a temperature for a few days and an asthma flare-up and young adult DS had no symptoms at all.

DH still feels rough now 8 weeks later with tightness of chest (no prior underlying issues) and I think he should call the doctors but not sure if they can do anything.

Not been to but spoken to. I was advised to rest rest rest. The more you do, the bigger risk of setting yourself back. I think it is going to take a long time to recover. Doing the dishes causes heart pain. No problems before this.

Due to being a lone parent I can't really just sit and do nothing.

@Woodandsky, I spoke to my doctor at about 4 weeks in as usually I am a regular runner and exercise alot. So was very much concerned about my ongoing shortness of breath and chest pain. She just said quite alot of people have protracted symptoms lasting upto 3 months. She said lots of virus's - glandular fever etc can take months to heal.

My breathlessness went after a week. Sense of smell took a good month to return and still isnt 100 percent. I am completely deaf in one ear still.

A report on some research by the University of Manchester, Salford Royal and Res Consortium that suggests that around a quarter of people have had it, presumably nearly always mildly or asymptomatically:

@GoatyGoatyMingeMinge I do
Hope so! Why are some countries finding much lower results? Perhaps it’s Cos we travel a lot from UK and have more visitors from other countries? I hope I can get an antibody test personally as I was poorly after a ferry trip back from France at end of February

Middle of March started with upset stomach, headache no temp.
Next day Sore throat, shivery, tired, bit breathless no temp.
Got a temp of 37.6 on 3rd day, took myself off to isolate in bedroom, DH is in shielding group, so followed advice to the T.
Added to symptoms were pain in lower back, and legs, slight tickly cough for only 1 day. Temp was up and down from 37.6 x- to 38 max. It was the breathing thing that was my most worrying symptom - felt like trying to breathe through a wad of cotton wool.
I stayed in bedroom for 10 days until temp went and felt better. Breathing went on and off for 5 weeks - simple things would start it off, so went to doctors. He listened to lungs which were ok, told it might have been a mild case. Prescribed antibiotics as said he was giving them to anyone suspected in case of a secondary bacterial infection.

Still getting the breathing symptoms on and off, I just take things easy for a couple of days.

My mother in law and partner, both early 60s currently have it. They have no symptoms at all!!! They were tested because she works in a care home with confirmed cases. They feel completely normal nearly 2 weeks later!

VashtaNerada · 14/05/2020 19:57

Yep. It was unpleasant but not as bad as flu for me. Symptoms lasted about ten days and then I got better (cough still lingering a bit though!)

ITonyah · 14/05/2020 20:01

I find the asymptomatic thing quite hard to believe. It wouldn't surprise me if it's not a thing at all, just rubbish tests.

peonypower · 14/05/2020 22:19

Why? Loads of studies show regular flu is asymptomatic for many people. Why would a Coronavirus be any different?

Flaxmeadow · 15/05/2020 13:45

Has anyone experienced tinnitus. Like a constant high pitch ringing noise in the ears?

AnnPerkins · 15/05/2020 13:58

DH and I both think we've had it. Would love the antibody test to confirm.

Both had similar symptoms, DH a week ahead of me; bit of a cough, fatigue for a week then felt better. Few days later lost sense of taste and fatigued again for a couple of days. Taste came back after about 5 days.

Various people we've spoken to, in UK and other countries, have had very similar experience.

CoronaLonaSad · 15/05/2020 19:03

I've had it fairly mildly! It didn't half drag on though ....
