Covid

Has the government got paid posters here to quash any dissenting voices?

There's always been robust discussions on politics on mn, but I've noticed lately when ever someone questions the government's track record on covid, certain posters pop up with very similar agendas, defending them to the hilt and trying to throw the discussion round to something else.

I'd like to see when posters actually joined mn, some newer posters must spend all their time on here defending the indefensible.

I think si but also thry are reporting stuff to mn hq to be removed.
I had a comment removed prelockdown with no notification to me..
Posts about petiotions deleted.
However i do think there are a surprising number of people who are 'im all right jack' and want all workers back to work in unsafe conitions (including the mps ).
Weve done so well but BJ is intentionally going for another peak. They do lots of stuff that is so questionable and even document it.
'put positive care home residents back in homes
You are fine to go to Cheltenham etc
Just wash your hands (erm it's in the air)
You dont need masks -thry dont protect you (erm apparently no icu staff have died). Even 100 years ago they knew masks helped.
Though have to agree they are only able to achieve this because our population is either so stupid (education?) or trusting or apathetic.
We are letting the weathy bully us (and have suspicions about how much wealthy company owners are doing this by talking in PM ear. I mean why cant we quarantine now? Why were the borders not shut to China. Seems very very suspicious

Lol, hilarious. You obviously missed the landslide election victory.

As for people who don't support the government being silenced on mumsnet, words fail.

How do people have the energy to live like this? Thinking that every thing the government does is a stealthy way to try and kill them? I'm too busy for the required mental gymnastics, sorry.

Im not sure any elderly will be supporting him.
His uselessness has meant over 70 and vulnerable cant go out for years... And the shielding.
And anyone with relative in care home. Or who has seen their loved one trying to get help via 111 as they cant breathe.

There are all sorts of bots/professional posters here.

The one about the Brexit, already mentioned here. then claig, than the Labour poster who only posted slogans and sound bites.

This Gov wants a nice, quiet, compliant herd, now get out there back to work to get infected Wink

Erm actually the goc said in their document about going through the stsges school closurs etc that they would be stting up a department? To control social media. (Basically as they were going for herd immunity they knew everyone would start freaking out about 100 thousands of deaths. They said they would get fb etc to remove things i think. (Implying it would be removing false things - misinformation) And people did have things removed if they tried to say their kid was ill.
Watching bbc before lockdown they were having to try to shut up a russian guy and i think a dr who was saying stuff.bear in mind the gov didnt release the info about Kawasaki.
And many people think/though the daily deaths were accurate not realising it's mostly from previous days.
People made choices about the risk before loickdown basec on how many cases there were but they didnt realise we were never testing properly nor contact tracing.

It certainly feels that way, OP.

I'm baffled as to why anyone would support Johnson, especially given his catalogue of foul ups that caused so many deaths.

Definitely. Some are very easy to spot, some are real people repeating what the paid ones say. So it’s hard to know for sure which ones.

So because people disagree they are government stooges ? Does that work both ways then I assume you think the other political parties also put comments on
It just maybe people have different views and some agree with certain things being done whilst others don't
And seeing as the government we have one on a majority you would actually expect more posts supporting them where in my experience it is certainly not that way

I think there are ‘shills’ on this board. There are lots of tactics they use. I remember reading a leaked document about the tactics they use to dismantle and distract threads. It was pretty eye opening!

So everyone that’s for the government is now getting paid to post about how they’re great? Sign me up, I could do with the money.

Sums up mn if you don't agree with us then you work for the government
My god I think some of you think a little too much about yourself maybe people just don't agree with your opinion. You know they don't actually have to just because you think you are right

(I don’t actually agree with BJ, but I could use the money! Eating 1 small meal a day now thanks to the shit show government!)

The only time I have ever had a post deleted was when I suggested someone was a SPAD. I didn't know it was considered offensive Grin.

No, I think a lot of people who disagree with me just simply disagree. That's fine. But there are so many brand new posters who only ever post about coronavirus starting threads with the most inflammatory and unbending opinions. They aren't engaging in any of the responses and if they do post again it is only to repeat the same point.

I don't think they are trying to manipulate opinion, I think they are just prodding it to see how firm it is.

the gov didnt release the info about Kawasaki
The majority of cases are in the US.
Pretty sure Cuomo was including them in press briefings, and NY is the only place to have a significant number.
An urgent alert was sent to British medical staff once it was known. The Nursing Times, for example, reported it on 27/04/20.
How exactly is that the govt hiding information @Keepdistance ?
This is still a new virus, we will be learning about its effects for months and years to come. I don't see that's a conspiracy.

I would say there are just as many Labour moles on MN. Just like the ones that are constantly opening new threads criticising the government.
Remember the conservatives won the election so there is plenty of support for them.
Generally people do have different opinions.

I think it was the other way round somewhere quoted as noticed in london and then everyone else stsrted looking at their cases.
Also thought the person released it via fb or SM rather than the gov saying. It was important because how would parents have known to worry about the fever as it would be expected with cv. As would d&v.

There are some posters on here who would support Boris Johnson no matter what. He could act like Herod and they would still support him - and probably say something about Corbyn as well.

Just start a thread about Boris and then wait.....

Agree with this and also with your earlier post on this thread. We're not allowed to talk about other threads apparently but I can think of several that deliberately poked the wasps nest whilst claiming to ask an innocent questions never to return despite tons of posters answering their question.

If not guiding opinion they are definitely testing it and encouraging supporters to be more vocal and extreme.

I wouldn't like to say if there are paid posters here (from both political sides) but did you not notice the HUGE election victory? It stands to reason there are going to be many posters supportive of the government.

And as for dissenting voices being quashed...were you here during the GE?! Labour/Left wing posters were like attack dogs, jumping on anyone who didn't support Corbyn!

And don't get me started on Brexit...

Basically whatever the prevailing MN trend is, in RL people think the exact opposite.

I think if there was an ability to anonymously uptick posts you would see a huge change in the way Mumsnet discusses things.
