How long to self isolate?

So I'm a bit unsure on how this actually works?

DS (4) had a temperature 38.8 on Sunday. He was ok - a bit grumpy on Monday and absolutely fine today. He has a history of unexplained temperatures - but this doesn't exactly fit his usual pattern (not high enough and not for long enough - but it is thought he might be maturing out of these episodes..)

He has no other CV symptoms and neither do any of the rest of the household. DS has not been out apart from for walks (social distancing maintained) for 2 months... apart from walks DH and I have only been out once each to the supermarket in the last 10 days.

Is this likely to be CV? Do we start the 14 day clock from Sunday? or the day he is properly better (today)? Do we need to be self isolating at all?

Many thanks

14 days from Sunday when the symptoms started.

Unfortunately although you feel it is unlikely to be covid-19, it's still a possibility. Best to be over cautious than under cautious if you can.

The rest of the household need to self-isolate for 14 days from Sunday when DS showed symptoms. This is because it can take 14 days to develop.
If any of you get symptoms you should then self-isolate for 7 days, even if that takes you past 14 days in total.

e.g. If you self-isolate due to DS having symptoms and then you develop symptoms on, say, day 13, you then have to self-isolate for a further 7 days making a total of 20 days that you will have isolated for.
