Can I go back to work?

I'm confused about where I stand. Please tell me where you think I stand.

The country has been told we are allowed to go back to work to non-essential roles.

-I work as a self employed Aesthetician
-We have not been given any guidance and don't fit into a category.
-I work from my own clinic, with its own door from the street.
-Noone else works in the building, it is just me and 1 patient at a time.
-No receptionist, cleaners e.t.c
-It is not my home.

However
I cannot maintain 2 metres- as obviously my job involves close contact.
I have sufficient PPE available, and equipment to deep clean in-between very spaced out appointments.

General consensus? Would it be ok to open?

Can I work?

No you can’t.

The announcement makes very little sense as anyone who needed to work outside the home already could. They’re encouraging businesses to reopen safely but they could already do that.

Except the ones that couldn’t, which still can’t. Including yours. You might be able to open in July. You can’t now. Sorry.

onemorepringle · 12/05/2020 07:37

PS how do you not fit into the same category as hairdressers?

NerrSnerr · 12/05/2020 07:39

You fall in the same category as hairdressers so not until July.

Pipandmum · 12/05/2020 07:39

No there have been guidelines about this: beauty therapists and hair dressers can reopen July 4 if numbers still improve.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/05/2020 07:40

No. You're in the beauty industry, which is one of the industries that cannot operate until July at the earliest.

Confusedcorona · 12/05/2020 12:51

Ok fair enough. Thank you for clarification.

I'm a medic and well versed in infection control and Aseptic techniques and used to wearing PPE.

@onemorepringle
I don't think I fit into beauty salons/hairdressers as I work alone 1-1 with 1 patient at a time. I could stagger them so I only did one per day.

I am a nurse working for the NHS and we haven't started doing our routine 1-1 appointments as yet due to the risks and we're not expecting to for a few months at least.

Care homes in my area have put a call out for beauty salons etc to see if they can donate PPE as they're still struggling so I imagine salons and services like yours won't be able to open until there is adequate PPE for everyone.

My eyebrow lady works alone 1-1 patient at a time, as does my hairdresser. They still can’t open.
