Pre school

My child attends a pre school that is attached to the Primary School. It has the same newsletters, spend time in other classrooms etc so they are fully part of the Primary. Would they be classed as not going back first because not part of the school years listed or would be classed as Nursery? (Some other kids same age go to Nursery as it offers top up hours) Thanks.

It’s reception and year 1 first. So the preschool attached don’t have to admit foundation 1 children straight away. But separate preschools can open from 1st June for all of their children so yours might do the same.

The school are looking at having all pupils in school for a month in classes of 15, so they suddenly need twice as many classrooms and twice as many staff. They might need the preschool area for normal school children.

Thank you for your reply. Yes my concern was that they would do the same as separate pre schools and open from 1st June. Hopefully they need the space for the primary kids and wait until after the summer for pre school to go back.

The guidance says nurseries attached to schools (which would include preschools) will go back too

Pre school

@bakingdiva Thank you for that. I hadn’t seen that. So looks like they will go back then. Because I don’t want to lose the place by refusing to send back if that’s what the government recommends.

@pinkjam you do not have to send your child back on 1st June. I’m not sending mine until September.

PinkJam · 12/05/2020 08:45

@Myfriendanxiety But then might lose the place?

My ds at nursery at school he wont be going back. Nursery place is different to school place. Nursery us also optional. We had to apply separately for school place.

Speak to the school, but it is very unlikely he will lost the preschool place between now and September. There will be lots who don’t go back on June 1st.
