NHS consultant consultant breaking rules

I was a bit shocked to see on a colleagues facebook page pictures and video of a family birthday last week. They are both senior NHS managers (he is a Director) and their visitor was his sister who is an NHS Consultant.

The stupidity, the selfishness and double studity posting it all on facebook.

Leave alone or tell their employer?

How do you know the sister isn't in lockdown with them?

What do you think their employer will do?

Maybe they see each other most days in a work capacity? In which case I can't really see that it makes any difference seeing each other out of work as well. But not very sensible and a bad example to put photos on fb.

I know a friend of mine who is nhs has not abided by the rules and met someone from another household. While I think it's wrong I have to say reporting her to her employer has not crossed my mind.

Leave it alone and mind your own business.

What would you gain from reporting this to their employers, apart from a feeling of smug satisfaction? They are adults who have made choices. Just ignore it.

Does it directly affect you? Being a snitch isn’t a desirable trait.

I meet my friend most weekends for a catch up. She is a Dr. We socially distance in my garden and don't share anything. She brings her own mug with her.

She has really struggled with the stress of working and not having anyone to talk to so we see each other and talk.

Employers won't do fuck all about what happened outside of work, unless it results in a criminal charge or brings the hospital into disrepute (eg having a brawl while in trust uniform).

You must immediately find out where they work and report them all.

Or ... you could start a petition to get them tarred and feathered.

Or you could mind your own business.

So sick of this shit.

What would you gain from reporting this to their employers

If they've no respect for the rules in their private life, they're probably not applying the rules at work either thus putting their patients and other staff at risk!

Why would you tell their employer? Would it give you satisfaction if for example they lost their jobs?

Have they both already had covid?

Well I suppose my reasons are:

talking to my niece in tears at what she is seeing in Intensive care, having my own NHS treatment delayed
30,000 deaths including NHS staff including at the hospitals they work at

I expect NHS senior managers and clinical staff to support their own front line staff and abide by the rules.

Oh why would you try and cause trouble for people who are working their arses off and putting their lives at risk to help others? Shame on you.

Yes the NHS isn’t busy or strained enough and could do with the hassle of you reporting this. Great if you can manage to get the sister off the front line too so we are a doctor down.

Honestly, just let them get on with it and mind you own.

@Mlou32 - I doubt that NHS directors are working their arses off putting their lives at risk. Actually not sure what they contribute exactly

Yeh just report them. Then make sure you sign up for the next recruitment round of the neighbourhood watch.

Yeah report them OP, then delight in getting them sacked/suspended. Less Dr's is just what we need right now.

vixxo I assume OP meant medical director or clinical director - they are still doctors, and ours are absolutely working their arses off.

If they work in the same hospital and on the same wards, they are practically working shoulder to shoulder anyway.
So what ever the location they can socialise.

You don't know anything about their circumstances. Maybe they've had covid and feel this is an acceptable choice. Maybe having nursed and probably experienced horrendous working conditions, they question why they can be exposed to daily high viral counts- but can't see each other. Maybe they didn't ask to be appointed community figure heads providing an example to your child

Maybe some people need to stop this virtuous judgement finger pointing and lip pursing and deal with through human instinct rather than through their own interpretation of social media posts. Oh and unfriend them rather than spy on them, and report back on social media.

When this is done I think we'll be celebrating those who actively fought the Corona battle. Not those who scoured Facebook gleefully looking for digressions
