Family member died from covid today

Not sure why I'm posting. On my own here and can't sleep. Don't want to message any friends/family so late. I wasn't especially close to this family member (got on well etc just didn't see them very often maybe only once a year or so) but my closer family saw them lots and watching them devastated is horrible.

Knowing they died alone is horrible. And that no one can see them to say goodbye/kiss their forehead. Knowing we can't go to the funeral.

And not being able to go and comfort my family who are hurting to much just now.

Know loads of people are in a similar position just now.

This virus is fucking brutal.

I'm so sorry for your loss OP. This virus is indeed a bastard. Try to get some rest, night time always bleakest. Take care of yourself.

It's awful for families to have to deal with this. A funeral is part of the grieving process, I can't imagine not being able to go to a member of my families funeral.

I'm really sorry for your loss, it's heartbreaking what this is doing to families.

I'm so sorry X try if you can to hold a celebration of life later in the year. My aunt died first day of lockdown, and just two of us at the crem. Having a proper send off later gives you something to plan and focus on. They hopefully didn't feel alone, they probably wouldn't have been too aware, and we can all feel love even if someone is not there xxx

My dad died of coronavirus on the 12th of April. I send you my sympathies, op. I hope you’re ok. I was the same as you on the first day. He died at about 7pm and I was awake I’m shock all night x

I'm sorry for your loss, I lost a friend to CV last week and have been overcome with sadness about the fact his kids were not with him at the end and have to grieve alone.

It really is horribly hard. I hope you manage some rest.

I think there will be many people who will want to hold a memorial service later, when things have improved, or a "celebration of life" service. It's a good idea, but still doesn't take away from the pain of not being able to say goodbye before they were gone.

Lots of love to everyone else who lost someone. Horrible horrible times.

A checkout operator at a local store, who was the most lovely, friendly and chatty guy, would chat every single time we went through his checkout died the other day.

It's just so unbelievably sad.

I have read on here that patients are not dying alone. Healthcare workers, doctors and nurses are holding their hands. I know it isn’t the same as family and loved ones but I hope you find some comfort in the fact that they weren’t alone.

It’s so brutal, I’m so sorry for your loss.

My friend’s father passed from covid this month. The nurses held his hand along the way, set up final FaceTimes etc, they were amazing so he definitely wasn’t alone
