Middle school system

Is anyone else in the same boat with the middle school system? So where we live children transition from y4 into middle untill y8 then move to high school . I hope something is done to allow these y4 pupils back to school also otherwise they will be moving to a brand new school with no transition period !

I feel it's a bit u fair for reception and year 1 to be randomly allowed back to school but the year 4s have to miss out on vital transition time ! Moving to a new school is huge without the fact they won't of actually stepped foot into any school for 6months

Yes. I work in a Prep school and have a Y1 and a Y8 child at the school. The Y8 is a leaver. I'd much rather she could go back than my little one.

Might get some clarity tomorrow on whether we can adjust for our type of school or not. But don't know whether being private might make the rules different for us than for a state middle school.

We have middle school from y6-y8. DS is in Y6. I’m wondering if they will be allowed to/expected to return, as they have already transitioned and been there 2 terms.

That's a thought I had bikerunski maybe it could be possibly tweaked to accommodate different school settings! Because in our system it's quiet pointless for the year 6s to go back over the year 4s who are moving up to middle and the year 8s who are moving to high school! 🤞🏼 as I would for my sons primary journey to be ended just like that I can't imagine just dropping him off at middle school gates on the 2nd of September when he's never even stepped foot in the school

Yes, it would make much more sense for those areas with three-tier systems to have year 4 in instead of year 6. Hopefully the government will be sensible and accommodate this in their guidance.
