Learning to drive

My DS turned 17 in March and obviously due to lockdown he's not been able to start learning to drive.

As it seems that the whole "Stay Home" part has been removed with no limits on amount of exercise sunbathing etc. Would it say to you that he could now start to learn? Obviously it would be me or his Dad teaching him not a driving instructor and of course he would have insurance etc.

We’ve been waiting weeks for the provisional license to come through so that might be an issue

We haven’t been doing unnecessary journeys so not driving much but when the 50 page doc or whatever comes out I don’t see why you won’t be able to teach him yourself

Luckily he's already got his provisional as driving lessons were booked to start on his birthday. Obviously now cancelled. Let's wait and see what more info comes out today.

Hope your child's Liv

We have allowed our DD to drive to the supermarket/pharmacy etc when we go out. She has been desperate to learn to drive.

I would imagine that if people are allowed to drive for hours to sunbathe on the beach, your DS should surely be allowed to have a few driving lessons with you.

Thanks - I guess more people will be processing them now.

I’ve read the doc - I think you teaching him will be ok - good luck 👍

My dd chauffeurs me to the supermarket. Her driving test was supposed to be this week, she was an experienced learner at the beginning of lockdown.

DD had a test booked for early April but it's was moved to the end of July. In the meantime she's been practising by driving me to the supermarket and back.

I'm just hoping they don't postpone her test again.
