Schools opening confirmation?

Sorry if there are other threads or if he said it and I missed it, but I know he said schools could go back for some years in June, but did he say when we'd know for sure?

I mean, 1st June is only three weeks away, surely schools need a yes/no pretty soon on whether it is happening for sure (and for which years)?

The schools will be scrambling like mad over the next few days to work out for sure what they are physically able to do or offer I should imagine...

Also from his graph it was only if the infecti9n (or was it death?) Rate was substantially lower by then....

He is supposedly giving more details tomorrow so then schools will have to try and see if what he suggests is feasible in reality or only in lala land.

It is lala land isnt it? Unless we are admitting we are choosing not to socially distance in school. I so wish my daighter was in yr 5 and not yr 6 right now.

And that I had a well paid job I could do from home...

Is that confirmed? Boris's statement seems so pointless if all the detail is coming tomorrow/has been told to the press anyway.

She is desperate to go back because she is in year 6 and never got to say goodbye. She was supposed to have extra transition (asd) and is desperate to be in school.they all go different secondaries and so much end of primary events had been arranged.

If school is actually open I think she'd actually run away herself to go.

This is why I'd love her to be in yr5. Then i could keep her home and it genuinely wouldnt matter. We have a tiny 1 bath house so I cant isolate within it. Ho hum.

Our most recent letter from school said people wouldnt be penalised for corona/corona anxiety related non attendance....

I imagine we will have to wait a couple of weeks to see if the R value drops at all, with the relaxing of some measures. In the meantime, schools will be putting plans together and then send out communication when they get the news either way from the government.

There'll be lots of us staff in over the May half-term having to sort out classrooms, I imagine!

There’s a piece in the Guardian tonight which says head teachers and unions have both expressed real concern over this. Unions want staff to have PPE which seems unlikely when there isn’t enough for the NHS or dentists.

The Department for Education have said that they're issuing further advice tomorrow so I guess we'll know then.
