People in the Muslim community holding secret evening congregational prayers (Ramadan). 20-30 people. A close family member is participating.

I think I would yes.

emz771 · 10/05/2020 21:18

100% without fail.

ChrissieKeller61 · 10/05/2020 21:19

Yes, for their own good

Redolent · 10/05/2020 21:21

Would be a big burning of bridges but inclined to do it.

@Redolent

I would report yes.

What these people don't understand is that if they get really ill with CV is that they would be prioritised if there are not enough ventilators as they are "fit and healthy" compared to my friends DD with terminal cancer who has put in a lot of effort shielding from before lockdown started, and has been told that she wouldn't be prioritised for a ventilator!!!!

Nanalisa60 · 10/05/2020 21:28

I really don’t think the police will do anything.

emz771 · 10/05/2020 21:29

They should.

Disneylover4321 · 10/05/2020 21:29

@emz772

Yes they should.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 10/05/2020 21:30

Yup

Nanalisa60 · 10/05/2020 21:33

Yes they should, but I don’t think they will because they don’t like to upset Muslims in a pray situation. It’s never good for community relations.

emz771 · 10/05/2020 21:36

Who cares about that?

Disneylover4321 · 10/05/2020 21:37

@nanalisa60

Not being funny but they should do something due to the reasons I posted earlier in this thread.

Disneylover4321 · 10/05/2020 21:37

@emz771

Not being rude, but who cares about what?

Nanalisa60 · 10/05/2020 21:39

Well hopefully the op will report it!!
I personally think nothing will happen ( no police will show up)

emz771 · 10/05/2020 21:40

Who cares about upsetting them? They are breaking the law.

Disneylover4321 · 10/05/2020 21:40

@Nanalisa60

Well I hope that they at least get fined.

Disneylover4321 · 10/05/2020 21:41

@emz771

Yes they are breaking the rules and should be punished for the reasons that I mentioned previously in this thread.

Lovely1a2b3c · 10/05/2020 21:41

Yes definitely although obviously if your family member can work out that you reported them then you may ruin your relationship with them.

LilyPond2 · 10/05/2020 21:42

Yes, would definitely report that! I thought your question was going to be along the lines of grandparents sitting at a 3 metre distance in the back garden.

Nanalisa60 · 10/05/2020 21:46

Well if they do get fined I’m sure the daily mail will pick up on it!!

They will love the fact that 20/30 Muslims have got caught being very naughty at Ramadan and had to be fined!!

That why I don’t think anything will happen, not good for the police and public relations.

DamnYankee · 10/05/2020 21:51

How do you know they haven't been reported already?

I would not report, but I'd have stern words and zero contact with that close family member. Do they even recognize the possibility they might be reported?

Hopefully, they are not living in your house! Blush

ragged · 10/05/2020 22:06

No, I wouldn't report it.
My threshold for snitching is a lot higher.

Clemmieandareallybigbunfight · 10/05/2020 22:26

You do realise prayer is an obligation of the religion? It might not be your way of doing things but these people feel conscience bound to do this. I wouldn't do anything except donate some hand sanitiser.

woodhill · 10/05/2020 22:28

I just don't understand why they are doing this.

Prayer can be done via teams or in private. Very foolish

Redolent · 10/05/2020 22:40

@Clemmieandareallybigbunfight

I’d like to think I have slightly more knowledge of the significance of Ramadan (taraweeh) prayers than you do. And by common scholarly consensus it’s permissible and even laudable to perform them at home with one’s own family, rather than in a gathering.
