Where to purchase antibody testing?

I know there have a been a few threads about people having bought the testing kits, I’m just wondering where you bought them from so I can do one?

Happy to be messaged if people aren’t comfortable.

I know they are not accurate completely, and I understand the statistics. We will repeat it once a month and comply with all NHS testing etc. For our current situation the cost is worth it. We bought ones from the private barely street guy but they didn’t turn up, twice and we were refunded.

www.privatecoronavirustests.com

Anyone used this company? Is it a genuine company or an internet spam one?

I would like to know this too. I've seen them for 99 pound but I'm not willing to pay that much.

I cant believe no one has replied!

Missteebeee · 10/05/2020 21:29

The Harley street clinic have them for £300

CherryStoneTree · 10/05/2020 22:46

@Missteebeee I have tried twice with the Harley street clinic and both times they failed to deliver and I was refunded, both with a swab and an antibody test. My DB also bought a test with them and the same was refunded.

@2020hello from another thread it seemed a lot of people have done them but people were very quiet, they were worried i people would think they worked for the company. I just want to buy one, no DMs either.

Blue Horizon do them for £99 or £80 for NHS workers. You need to be able to squeeze a vial of blood out of your finger - it’s not just a droplet.

CherryStoneTree · 10/05/2020 23:02

Thanks @Egghead68 do you have a link so I make sure I order from the right place? Have you used them? Sounds like a similar one to the private corona test place. Which company are they using?

CherryStoneTree · 10/05/2020 23:02

@Egghead68, do you mean a vial as in the normal amount of blood taken for a single blood test? Or those mini vials specifically for finger blood collecting?

OP posts:
Egghead68 · 11/05/2020 05:19

I don’t have any familiarity with vials but I think it is 8ml.

DuchessMinnie · 11/05/2020 06:37

I've had the test at work and had to give 2 x 4ml of blood. Only one was for the antibody test though.

Casino218 · 11/05/2020 06:48

Just google it. They are on sale. Not sure why people ask Mumsnet before just doing a search.

Selfsettling3 · 11/05/2020 06:51

You do realise that even if you have antibodies it doesn’t mean you won’t get it again. Add on that you can get false negatives and positives. I’m struggling to see what the point of getting tested is as you won’t know anymore than you already know now.

Gunpowder · 11/05/2020 06:55

I’ve heard we are only a few weeks away from a reliable antibody test. I’d wait a bit longer if I were you or it might be a waste of money.

Blownaway1 · 11/05/2020 06:57

If they’re not rolled out before June 1 I’ll be buying one before sending my DC to school. Fairly sure we’ve had it but haven’t been tested.

Orangeblossom78 · 11/05/2020 07:05

If you read this it mentions different tests and different levels of accuracy. Not sure how accurate the one mentioned is, maybe it is listed here.

Seems sensible to discuss and check here, no need for people to be rude Confused

Egghead68 · 11/05/2020 13:33

@CherryStoneTree I can’t recommend them or otherwise but the link is bluehorizonbloodtests.co.uk/collections/covid-19-coronavirus-tests

firstmentat · 11/05/2020 13:39

I’ve heard we are only a few weeks away from a reliable antibody test.
We are weeks away from a reliable cheap antibody test, suitable for the ambitious project of population-wide testing. There are sufficiently reliable tests on the market (with sensitivity / specificity similar to the HIV test, for example).

Truzza · 11/05/2020 13:39

I received a letter from the Public health board/Govt asking if I wanted to take part in a trial for an anti body test today!! It's arriving tomorrow 😱

Also getting one from work next week so we shall see what happens

Egghead68 · 11/05/2020 13:40

What became of the Roche test? Word was this was going to be available on the NHS by mid-May..,

Egghead68 · 11/05/2020 13:41

Will they give you your individual results @Truzza?

Truzza · 11/05/2020 13:45

@Egghead68 yes it's a finger prick test apparently! The one from work is a vial 🧪 one so will be interesting to see what happens
I wonder if it's because I have year1 child?

Egghead68 · 11/05/2020 13:47

Oh great! Let us know how it goes.

Kokeshi123 · 11/05/2020 14:25

You do realise that even if you have antibodies it doesn’t mean you won’t get it again.

Those "caught-it-twice" people in Korea....? Turned out to be false positives. As far as we know, people are not getting this more than once. Immunity to SARS and MERS lasts 1-2 years, so this virus most likely will be similar.

CherryStoneTree · 11/05/2020 15:08

@Casino218 er thanks for that. You might want to suggest to MNHQ that they close the site as people don’t need to ask them just need to google it........
You’re right, why would I want to have a test that I know someone else has legitimately taken?
