I know no one can say either way until we get antibodies testing but does this sound like a covid 19 pattern.

Dd (14yo) skied in Italy. 11 days after came out of school with a high temp. 38.
She also had headache achy body and a sore throat. As she had been to risk area she was tested but it was negative. 6 days later she got a cough lost her voice and still had a headache. All in she was poorly for 2 weeks.

Her dad and myself both got coughs and tired but I wouldn't say we were ill.
I then got transient hives 5 weeks later for about 3 days. Around this time my son (12) who had been the only non affected one got chilblains which I now suspect were covid toes.

Could her test have been a fast negative. It was very early in the pandemic.

Yes probably a false negative. Loads of kids brought it back from skiing.

Are false negs that common?

First tests had 30% false negatives.

Yes false negatives are very common you could also test negative one day and then positive the next day. Also at the beginning the swabs weren't being done properly

To get a reliable nasal swab, the swab needs to go right up the nasal cavity and scrape the sinus membrane (brain scraping). Painful, unpleasant and difficult to do - so often not done correctly.

Based on the symptoms and circumstances I'd say COVID was likely. Not to the extent I'd go out and start licking COVID patients or anything, but likely.

Thanks for responses. I think likely too. I was on the fence till son cane out in the chilblains two weeks later I read an article on covid toes and wasShock
