Being shamed?

So someone on Facebook has condemned everybody who went to a street party yesterday. Apparently even if you stuck to the confines of your own driveway/front garden well away from other people you deserve to get the virus and die!
AIBU to argue that this is ridiculous and siting well away from people is no different than sitting in your own garden at home?

It's Facebook. In one post, people are shamed for not having a party and in another, for doing so.

Just ignore almost all posts on SM.

YANBU - the world has gone mad.

As long as people were socially distancing I dont see the issue.

However, I am surprised by the hypocrisy.

On facebook, on here and people I know in real life, were telling people they were irresponsible and spreading covid by sitting on a bench alone. Or wanting to go sit in a relatives garden and keep 2 meters. Or go for a socially distance walk with someone from another house. Some of the very same people, were sat 2 meters from their neighbours yesterday and claiming it was fine and they could do their own risk assessment.

My dismay of yesterday is the hypocrisy. Perosnally, I thibk all of the above should have been fine anyway. As longs as peolle were sensible.

Also I do worry, a little. Lots of peolle ended up not socially distancing last night after drinking. I hope there's not a peak in 2-3 weeks.

@Peggysgettingcrazy it's difficult. There was no travel involved other than stepping outside your door. You are still normally on your property/just outside your property. To see family members/go to the beach you'd have to travel in most cases.

But not. Not everyone has to travel far to visit family.

My point being that its actually some of the most vocal who were quite awful and rude, though yesterday was fine.

And they are back to being dicks today. Thats my only issue with it

I have wordes that badly. I dont have an issue with it.

I do have an issue with the way people have acted leading up to yesterday, telling people what they can and can't and generally being shitty.

Then lots of them thought yesterday was fine.

The reason these peolle were forthing weeks ago wasn't to do with car journeys. Peolle were even saying you couldn't use your own garden as you would be too close to neighbours.

Its the whole hypocrisy over this that is the issue, for me.

But no issue with anyone celebrating. Hope you had a good day x
