Nicola has just announced that Scotland will stay locked down for a further 3 weeks with no easing of restrictions.

What's your thoughts?

I doubt it. People really have it in for Nicola, I like her, I think she cares. They were very clear with their announcement. Absolutely NO change to schools on June the 1 in Wales. To stop parents, teachers and every one else celebrating or panicking with made up headlines and speculation. English and Welsh education systems are closely linked so I would expect the same in England. Personally I wish England had a government willing to just be honest like Scotland and Wales. It’s easier all round.

We are lucky to have her. I really really will never understand the English voting in Boris. And still defending him. There's no sense to it at all.

ssd · 07/05/2020 21:25

Not all the English I should say.

isitfridayyet1 · 07/05/2020 21:28

The number of cases per day are still
so high the Uk has not got the control it needs to start lifting lockdown. We're hardly in a Norway situation.

I wonder where the papers got the idea the lockdown was going to be lifted?

ladylunchalot · 07/05/2020 22:36

I think it is the right thing to do, it's way too early to lift restrictions. I'm glad NS is looking out for Scotland, I will listen to her advice rather than BoJo. Still galls me that the ejit is PM when the overall majority in Scotland didn't vote him in.

Tbh I think Nicola Sturgeon is right.

In fact I think it’s the only thing I’ve ever thought she’s been right on in a long time!

Tfoot75 · 07/05/2020 22:45

I don't think any of the papers have reported anything except exercise outdoors more, more shops to open and go back to work if you can, basically what's been happening anyway. What else has been reported to happen on Monday, apart from a road map of how it's going to be eased in future, obviously.

FirTree31 · 07/05/2020 22:48

I don't think this is the right thing, people are fatigued now, so by the end of this tree weeks I suspect even less compliance. My mental health, and that of many people I know, is starting to sink.

The printed press and the government are really one and the same, when you look behind the scenes a bit. This is no accident and has those headlines have effectively taken the gov off the hook for loosening restrictions. There will be something for them to have gained by the newspapers printing what they did.
I don't know personally whether I think loosening it or not is best. But I am far too cynical to think that all this is in anyway removed from the Conservative party machinations.
