I've been told this morning that it's going to be 7-10 days for Coronavirus test results now, not the 48 hours advises before the test. I was told this on the phone to the testing help desk, and the lady I spoke to said she herself had been waiting 8 days already.
I know this isn't AIBU, but I feel like the government has escalated the number of tests to fulfil the promise they made, but caused a huge backlog the other side of the testing process.
People will get back to work at the same time as they would have done through self-isolating for their own symptoms, so it isn't really helping key workers get back to work quicker.
I suppose I feel like it was all smoke and mirrors to meet the testing target, but perhaps I'm being unreasonable and not thinking of the bigger picture? I just need to get back to work!
