Support thread for those who've had Covid symptoms or post-viral fatigue for at least 7 weeks/49 days or longer.

If your symptoms haven't lasted that long, check out the Lung 7 thread (or later). It'll be more helpful as people there will be in a more similar position.

@ArcheryAnnie @JaggedHedge @FjorGynAndHotWater and @clairethewitch70 hello and welcome to the thread, though very sorry you have to join us here.

@Meercatmama thank you for sharing your little bit of hope, that's good to hear. And @Crayfishforyou sorry you dipped at the last minute.

My day has been exactly the same as yesterday and the day before - no improvement but no deterioration either so I'm taking that as a positive. A very lovely friend sent me some spotty compression socks and a beautiful, heartwarming book (the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse) today. I'm sharing a page from it.

@fedupofbed Thank you, I have welled up looking at this page, this book is gorgeous. Xx

Dandyish · 07/05/2020 21:09

I came across some stuff on post exertional malaise that recommended keeping your heart rate low, so I've been monitoring my heart rate over the last few days and as soon as I see it going too high, stopping to take a break. I feel a lot less fatigued, so it might be worth anyone who is at a similar point looking into it.

Thanks for sharing that @JaggedHedge. My pulse oxygen thingy arrived today and I also have an apple watch, so I've been measuring my bpm and pulse today and resting when I need to.

Is anyone else having trouble laying flat? I feel as though I am losing my balance if I do. I have had tinnitus since day 1 though, which will not go.

Im resigned to sleeping upright forever Confused

Norugratsatall · 07/05/2020 21:28

@Arewehere Yes I've had awful tinnitus and dizziness if move my head too quickly too. The T is truly awful and I'm struggling to deal with it. Huge sympathies to you.

Tangledyarn · 07/05/2020 21:36

Does anyone else feel like the inside of their lung is incredibly dry? My left lung feels so dry and stiff, almost like it's just totally stuck together, it feels so restricted. Its really stressing me out tonight along with the stupid breathlessness and racing heart.

Moodgie · 07/05/2020 22:27

@Tangledyarn My chest feels stiff, not all the time, but tonight it has, I think that is the feeling, and my breathing is restricted then. I’ve got a bad evening tonight mentally, I’m scared and helpless and just want get better but it’s not happening! I’m just scared how much longer my body can take battling this.

Porcupineinwaiting · 07/05/2020 22:27

Remind me @Tangledyarn have you had your chest xrayed recently/at all? Because, if not, that might be something to ask about. The stiffness is a pneumonia thing I believe (nb: I'm not a doctor).

Mintypylonsfryingsurplus · 07/05/2020 22:35

@WaktiWapnasi I still have the wrist thing going on too and the pins and needles.
I stopped posting on here too as I felt ignored and overlooked but I think been oversensitive.
I had M.E after pneumonia for 6 years which I mostly recovered from until this.
I not been able to share with anyone as they will say its a relapse.
Never even told anyone I was taken to A&E last Friday so this has been my only supporr too apart from husband.
I hope you all continue to recover

Tangledyarn · 07/05/2020 22:37

@Moodgie Sorry you are having a bad night. It does feel like it's going on forever doesnt it.
@Porcupineinwaiting Thanks. No xrays, it's such a strange feeling and it's so incredibly dry (I'm going to try and do some steaming tommorow) it just feels very stuck like theres not much movement in it and very stiff. I'm on day 3 of steroids and they seem to be helping the asthma/ wheezing a bit but not the rest so I dont know now!

Tangledyarn · 07/05/2020 22:40

@Mintypylonsfryingsurplus That must be hard. I have ME and other conditions too, it's hard with other people, I think they are pretty fed up of me being unwell all round prior to this saga to be honest.

Lightsabre · 07/05/2020 22:41

@Tangledyarn, yes, I have a very dry, raw feeling in my windpipe and chest. I never did develop a proper cough but it keeps 'threatening' as it were. It seems to come on in the evenings mostly.

Egghead68 · 07/05/2020 22:42

Lovely page @fedupofbed. Made me cry.

@ArcheryAnnie I am with you on the one zoom meeting a day then needing to go back to bed.

I’m trying to keep my heart rate below 100 which means lying down or taking no more than a few steps very slowly.

Tangledyarn · 07/05/2020 22:48

@Lightsabre Hmm strange feeling isn't it. I had quite a bad cough but it went a while ago, apart from some asthma coughing, what's weird now today is I cant seem to cough at all and there is like literally no moisture at all in my lungs.

Serialcatmum · 07/05/2020 22:57

Today I’ve been diagnosed with asthma and prescribed an inhaler. I’ve never, ever had chest problems before. 7 weeks ago I got a (very bad) cough and have essentially been breathless since.
Really hoping it helps me be able to exercise again!

TheWooisStrong · 07/05/2020 23:04

Anyone else struggling with reflux? Not something I ever suffered with before.
Mid back pain is back. My own fault - I did a bit too much gardening and overdid it.
I now know I need to sleep to feel better but can’t lie down because of the reflux.

pinkoneblueone · 07/05/2020 23:15

@Crayfishforyou omeprozole is good for getting rid of acid in the tummy

Wheresthebeach · 07/05/2020 23:19

@Serialcatmum I’m asthmatic, and pre Covid exercised a lot. I’ve found even doing a gentle yoga on line class is doing me in, or 10 minutes on our bike in the garden. The day after exercise I’m floored so am going to take it super easy going forward.

On Omeprazole for reflux but its only dampening it down.

My peak flow is starting to look normal finally, week 7. I think rest rest and more rest. A PP said they were angry over not having relaxing lock down - I feel exactly the same. Really cross that I missed having quality time with DD who’s 15, and couldn’t enjoy the decent weather. I know I should just be happy I didn’t end up in hospital, but I’m not!

pinkoneblueone · 07/05/2020 23:27

@Wheresthebeach I fee exactly the same we have been sick and isolating for 8 weeks and we haven't been able to do much more recently it's been a struggle to get through the day.

Keepdistance · 08/05/2020 00:12

Youve probably seen this

It could even be someone on here

LetsBeSensible · 08/05/2020 00:48

@Mintypylonsfryingsurplus hi, I also have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. I have to say the FM has not popped up through this Covid really, small mercies I guess.I too kept it quiet when an ambulance was called. Just can do without the fuss from other people.

ShastaBeast · 08/05/2020 00:48

Hey I’ve not posted for ages as feeling mostly fine. Just hay fever symptoms- snotty nose and sore throat. I did try running again last week and got the burning raw sensation in the windpipe. Otherwise I feel ok, albeit with my usual aches and pains. Reflux definitely got worse in the early weeks but is better now, not gone but I had it before anyway.

Is anyone’s cycle going nuts? I’m having periods every 16-20 days when normal is 40+ days. I’m also very bloated in my upper abdomen and wondering if it’s diastasis recti from the heavy coughing fits. I may have had it slightly after two pregnancies but the part between the lower ribs was always very tight until recently. I’m having a scan to make sure it’s nothing sinister. Already checked ovaries due to the periods and they seem fine, perhaps early-ish menopause?!

Egghead68 · 08/05/2020 06:33

Morning. 7 weeks this evening. Woken with a headache, burning chest and catarrh/sinus congestion. I’m sure more lovely symptoms will emerge when I get up. I realise that I have a bit of energy until around 9:30am and then crash, so I’m going to try to get some work done before breakfast (I’m so behind - just can’t get much done in the day at all).

@TheWooisStrong yes lots of reflux. Seems to be a common symptom. Normal acid reflux remedies work.

MillStone · 08/05/2020 07:40

@Tangledyarn @Lightsabre I have the really dry lower windpipe / lung feeling too. Windpipe feels dry and scratchy but my lungs feel sensitive and raw with it. Cold, warm and dry air all seem to make it worse.

@ShastaBeastGreat to read you're recovering. Please can I ask how long you were ill for and what your symptoms were?

godhelpusall · 08/05/2020 07:51

@Mintypylonsfryingsurplus what happened when you went to A&E?
