Can't take anymore not knowing so I've paid £260 to bike out a test from a lab and wait while we stab ourselves and return our blood to the lab

Dh thinks I've gone a bit batshit but I couldn't take anymore

Disclaimer : it won't affect my behaviour in line with current government guidelines

Hope you've had your results Laurie, keep coming back to check Blush

Bananasandorangesss · 12/05/2020 20:15

Also coming back here to check!!!

PP who contacted Roche - that’s really good to know. I hope these will be rolled out nationwide soon. As far as I know there’s only one outfit on Harley St doing tests by vein blood draw. I’m hoping some others open up in Greater London as dont fancy travelling to central London right now. The home test squeezing the finger (Abbott) doesn’t appeal to me (but im a wuss with these things!!).

BunsyGirl · 12/05/2020 20:47

The private GP service that I use are offering private testing for current infections. I am hoping that they will offer the antibody test in the not too distant future and will book a test as soon as it is available.

ihatethecold · 12/05/2020 20:57

The private GP service in Cambridge emailed me to say they are offering antibody testing for £93
They send it in the post so it’s a home one.

drcb83 · 12/05/2020 21:50

My work ordered everyone an Ab test. All doing next week - we shall see!! We have at least one positive but I imagine the rest are negative.

LizzieSiddal · 12/05/2020 21:55

drcb83 do you know which test and company they have used to carry out the test?

pasanda · 12/05/2020 22:07

I was swabbed today and also had a blood test to see if I've had it. NHS worker. They want all asymptomatic people to test every fortnight in my trust

Luckily it was free!

Sweetnhappy1 · 12/05/2020 22:11

@LaurieFairyCake have you checked your spam folder? Some colleagues found their results there.

ItsNoFromMe · 12/05/2020 22:46

Any update?

indecisivewoman81 · 12/05/2020 22:57

Any news yet?

LaurieFairyCake · 12/05/2020 23:07

Nope, nothing

I emailed earlier, no response yet.

Are the antibody tests even reliable yet?

Easilyanxious · 13/05/2020 00:37

@Laurie on sheet you posted it mentions if done after 14 days after symptoms ? Does that mean weeks after of ideally has to be done exactly 14 days after ??

AldiAisleOfCrap · 13/05/2020 01:45

It means a minimum of 14 days after symptoms.

Wannabangbang · 13/05/2020 01:48

Be interested to see how this turns out

TheLoverOfTea · 13/05/2020 01:52

Snap!

NewCurtainsPls · 13/05/2020 02:20

I bought from BlueH, it arrived in 4 days, sent it back today. The lancets were pretty good to my surprise. It was easy and painless to fill 0.8ml.

I'm a scientist working with antibodies and all types of antibody tests, also with PCR. I know there's a great chance of false positives and negatives but I believe the Abott one is the best we can access right now. I know it won't show immunity (at least for now).

I had covid like symptoms on mid March and it was terrible. Then all the symptoms returned back 7 weeks later. I had a PCR on the 7th week and it was negative (no surprise there). But not knowing if it was covid or not is driving me crazy. Because if it was Covid this is as bad as it gets. I survived without going to the hospital. But if I had or still having another infection I don't know what would happen to me with Covid. I probably would end up in ICU because right now I still have minor breathing problems. So if I'll have a positive test it will be a great relief. I won't stop protecting myself or others but at least I won't have sleepless nights over it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/05/2020 02:50

The customer service doesn't fill one with confidence.

Casino218 · 13/05/2020 03:28

Why couldn't you just do your own test. It's not that complicated that you need to pay £260!

CocoCorona · 13/05/2020 03:57

What a waste of money. 7 days and still waiting for a result. Paying premium to get the samples biked to the lab and still no results after this long? Where were these tests taking place? A normal hospital lab would’ve reported the results within 2/3 days, and the results would’ve gone straight to your GP. If it’s a private lab, I guess this is the risk you take, as there’s nothing to link you with your NHS profile. Seems like the lab must be overworked and no reporting targets to meet, so they can relax about when they send out results. Hospital labs have to meet a certain percentage criteria to release results in a timely fashion, even for private patients.

I wasn’t aware there are any reliable antibody tests available for covid-19 yet. Even if they’re CE marked, doesn’t mean a test is reliable.

CocoCorona · 13/05/2020 04:18

How apt. Just read this article and would recommend it to anyone else thinking of getting these antibody tests:

TheRosesAreInBloom · 13/05/2020 04:31

Place marking, interested in the results

drcb83 · 13/05/2020 04:37

@LizzieSiddal we have some German Government tests imported. We all know they mean nothing - just bored scientists really! We have at least one positive in the crew so hopefully that flags as a control. With estimated 4% infection rate outside of london - I doubt anyone else will come up.

Bananasandorangesss · 13/05/2020 05:16

@NewCurtainsPls please let us know your result too. Get well soon :-)

liaun · 13/05/2020 05:28

Good on you

You've got a little of negative noras on this post, I guess they're just jealous
