How certain can we be - isolation after positive

If day one is the first day of symptoms, on day 4 you are tested, on day 7 your test results show you are positive. Is it really safe to assume that you are clear to recommence normal life on day 8 Without a second test to absolutely confirm you are negative? Could the assumption that 7 days from symptoms starting be one of the reasons for the continuing cases/deaths? Who decided 7 days and does anyone know if this has been reviewed since?

It depends on whether you still have symptoms. If you still have symptoms you stay in isolation

Yes I know what you mean. I waited a further 7 days to be sure. I didn't want to be responsible for someone catching it from me and dying.

They say you can have the cough for ages afterwards which is exhausting BUT be negative so how are we to know for sure, we are not spreading it unless they double test?
