Office National Statistics Map search site. How many people have sadly died in your area?

And does it alter your opinion of anything Covid related if you know?

I'm not rural, but nowhere near London and I knew that it had been longer getting up here, but I've still not heard of many people I know getting the virus or dying from it.

The map search say that luckily for us, only 3 people have in my town. It seems like a lot of disruption for that, but obviously it would be a lot worse without all the measures being in place. It also shows that should we lift the restrictions too early for here, yet it being dictated by the progress in much heavier weighted areas that have been harder hit and are now improving, we may be in trouble!

I hate that phrase.... "sadly died"

Some of them were right bastards. Some were pedos & ex-cons. Plenty were not nice people. Prisoners are among those who will be most affected although they tend not to be elderly, some are elderly. Stop pretending that suddenly we all care about everyone. We don't.

Dowser · 04/05/2020 22:21

40 in my town of 93,000 people.
81 in the whole trust that possibly covers a population of 400,000

Dowser · 04/05/2020 22:32

If you look in the town obituaries over the lockdown period, you’d struggle to find more than a couple people under 70

Yellredder · 05/05/2020 06:59

0 here, but 11 across the Borough, which is very rural and has a population of 60, 000.

Comenext · 05/05/2020 08:56

4 deaths in our village and next village with combined population 10,000. We are in North Wales and semi-rural. The peak will be reached sometime in May here.

Jenala · 05/05/2020 09:00

These are only deaths up to the 17th April, and registered up to 18th April which means there are thousands not on there yet. It's going to be horribly sad to see more dots appear each week.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/05/2020 09:32

@Comenext I'm north wales too and have also heard that our peak is going to be mid may, with the news reporting this week that the liverpool area is now a big hot spot. It's a bit to a worry considering all the talk of starting to loosen things. Drakeford said we are coming through the peak, but he is notoriously south centred.

0 deaths and one dot in my town and one in the next. We do know one person died in the very early days, he'd been on holiday to the canary Islands and was ill by the time he came back and died in in another area.

PerplexingWords · 05/05/2020 11:19

2 where I live, and seven where I work. Given what has been said about higher death rates in poorer areas I am not surprised, but sad.

Comenext · 05/05/2020 12:25

@DrMadelineMaxwell The Liverpool area being a hotspot is concerning.
I think that release from lockdown should be done according to area.
Every part of the country has different populations and traffic.

5th Vit D3 study from Belgium.

Males showed markedly higher percentage of vitamin D deficiency ..Vit D deficiency is a possible risk factor for severe infection in males. Vit D3 supplementation might be an inexpensive, accessible and safe mitigation for covid

  1. That's quite scary. God bless them.
Hollyhead · 06/05/2020 06:48

1, rural area, post area would take about 20 mins drive end to end, population of about 5000 but very low population density. Very few in neighbouring areas too (some 0).

Weekday28 · 06/05/2020 07:00

4 in my town however I would question if that is true? Due to my work we are informed when a patient passes away and I have had more than 4 notifications of death due to or suspected covid.

lollipoplola · 06/05/2020 07:21

0 confirmed deaths

Piggywaspushed · 06/05/2020 07:35

weekday, this is only up to 18 April if that explains it?

It probably also 'only' reports those who have died having had a positive test.

kevintheorangecarrot · 06/05/2020 07:38

6 deaths in my area according to that website.. still sad as I only live in a small village :(

Comenext · 10/05/2020 08:31

@DrMadelineMaxwell Could you give me an updated link for the Office National Statistics Map search site? I have tried a few time myself and can't find the right one.
