Office National Statistics Map search site. How many people have sadly died in your area?

And does it alter your opinion of anything Covid related if you know?

I'm not rural, but nowhere near London and I knew that it had been longer getting up here, but I've still not heard of many people I know getting the virus or dying from it.

The map search say that luckily for us, only 3 people have in my town. It seems like a lot of disruption for that, but obviously it would be a lot worse without all the measures being in place. It also shows that should we lift the restrictions too early for here, yet it being dictated by the progress in much heavier weighted areas that have been harder hit and are now improving, we may be in trouble!

Just England and Wales.

BigChocFrenzy · 04/05/2020 09:46

"I don’t think deaths are registered to a hospital but to home address."

That's correct, home address

tinatsarina · 04/05/2020 09:51

I'm ni nothing is coming up for us

EricaNernie · 04/05/2020 09:54

I do know the figures for my local trust, but wont divulge

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/05/2020 09:59

In our district it currently works out as 0.02% of population. So although our numbers locally look high and every death is obviously important. It has been kept much lower than it would have been.

Ontheblackhill · 04/05/2020 10:07

4 people in my area arounding villages. Population about 16k

Bol87 · 04/05/2020 10:09

3 in my postcode & between 2-5 in surrounding area postcodes. Interestingly, more deaths in the poorer areas around me..

Thing is, I’m not checking the death stats ever in none covid times. I imagine I’d be surprised how many people died each month in my postcode for other reasons! I don’t think it’s particularly helpful to look so specifically other than morbid curiosity & to scare yourself!

Lol, helpful contribution :-) Don’t worry, we all know loads of stuff you don’t know too 😂

reesewithoutaspoon · 04/05/2020 12:26

1 in my area with lots in surrounding areas (major city) much higher death rate in the deprived areas but also one particular area which is considered affluent. I can only assume that this is age related as you would have to be financially well off to afford to live there not really a first time buyers area.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/05/2020 13:12

16 in my Midlands commuter town of 40,000.

user1471439240 · 04/05/2020 13:34

The vast majority of areas have minimal cases, death rates on average of 0.04 where Covid is mentioned on the death certificate. What happens next?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 04/05/2020 14:54

@Peggysgettingcrazy we have 3 just someone asked how big my town is. That's our total population.

sorry,
i guess it was about a third of cases died, which corresponds with other hospitals

Piggywaspushed · 04/05/2020 15:04

This was leaked on BuzzFeed and I know a few of you have concerns about this :

Shielded “extremely vulnerable” people will be banned from any work that isn’t carried out at home. Businesses must help non-shielded “vulnerable” people work from home where possible, or take extra care enforcing social distancing around them in the workplace. Extremely vulnerable individuals are defined as those with specific medical conditions, such as various cancers.

It's not about schools, though, of course.

Piggywaspushed · 04/05/2020 15:12

Wrong thread , but the OP will want to know!!

Itsjustmee · 04/05/2020 15:29

0 in my area
1 in the next area where my dad lives

Purplequalitystreet · 04/05/2020 15:55

Yikes 2 in my postcode and 5 or 6 in all the surrounding postcodes. This is not a city so I dread to think what the figures are like in those postcodes

MrsBennetsnerves · 04/05/2020 17:54

13 in my immediate area. Population for my MSOA just under 9000. I'm in London.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 04/05/2020 18:16

She will, @Piggywaspushed, thanks. Due to not being shielding and no direction from HR, all asthmatics are currently on the rota for the hub school - not that much of a problem with only a few kids in and only once every few weeks then working from home the rest of the time - but when we are back in, they will then expect us to be in too.

12 in my area, but we have multiple care homes for such a small town so I'm not entirely surprised sadly Sad

kingis · 04/05/2020 18:35

6 in my area. Leafy suburb with loads of older people. North west city.

ImDillDandin · 04/05/2020 19:39

0 in my area of North Worcestershire, several in the surrounding zones.

chubley · 04/05/2020 21:52

1 in my area, 3 in the next one, population figure is given for both together at 16,000.

People in residential areas still mostly observing lockdown/distancing, but the main roads are a bit busier and workmen starting to reappear.

wheresmymojo · 04/05/2020 22:03

2 people. I'm quite surprised actually as we're only a village.
