Can anyone give me any advice I'm desperate to get on vulnerable list just done 10days on ICU nearly died with covid 19been sent home told to sheild and I have noone to help with shopping rang Tesco they said have to be on vulnerable list managed to get a Iceland order for now but worried for future shops noone to help mums elderly and not up to it advice needed please

Did you try your local covid-19 groups yet?

If that doesn't work, do you have the phone number for any neighbours? You could try any local Facebook group in an emergency, but be really careful of scammers.

I hope you get well soon, ICU is a scary place. From family member experiences I think it's normal to feel quite traumatised coming out. Do you want to talk?

Have you tried local Facebook groups OP? or contacting your local authority to find out who your NHS first responder volunteers are?
I am so sorry to hear you've had such a rough time but so so glad you've pulled through. How are you doing?

Look up your local councillor. He has been really helpful in my area. Also perhaps local churches? ( They're working with our councillor in my area). There will definitely be someone to help. And if all else fails I would ask neighbours to help. If any of mine had no-one else to help. I would only be too pleased to help and I would hate to think of them suffering in silence. Hope things go well for you and you're feeling better soon.

And just to say, I know how this can be difficult to deal with. I had pneumonia a few years ago and nearly died and it is quite hard to move on from, but you will. Things will be ok. And as I said, there are loads of people who will want to help you.

Why are you shielding if you have recovered from Covid19?

You have been told to shield after recovering from Coronavirus? That certainly blows a lot of the theories out of the water!

I'm sheiding as my lungs are very weak from the corvid my body is recovering and could take months I barely get out bed just wondering if anyone knew about vulnerable list I have tried to register but how do you know if successful or not

You will, if successful get an email from one of the supermarkets offering you a slot.

The shielding is probably to avoid other sources of infection (e.g. bacterial infections which could lead to bacterial pneumonia in OP's already compromised lungs) rather than shielding from Covid.

OP is obviously too weak and unwell to go food shopping though so needs delivery slots etc.

Of course she needs to shield! She's high risk of infection following a virus that's attacked her lungs!
There are lots of volunteer groups out there that can help with shopping etc. contact your local council and they'll put you in touch with someone that can help.

Sandy2016 how horrendous for you. It’s great you are out of hospital.

Unless things have changed recently, I don’t think you are eligible for the extremely vulnerable list which is just for people with particular specified chronic health conditions.

I also think your best bet would be your local Covid mutual aid group.

Sorry that was probably a stupid question re shielding. Definitely contact your local council. Ours have several set ups for people struggling.
