I have a 7 week old baby so I guess I should get him vaccinated. Our gp practice said they would call to make an appointment for us but so far haven't heard anything.

I will probably chase them up but wondering if it is safe to take baby to the gp? Please reassure me? My anxiety levels are really high

Yes, PHE (and W, S, NI) are all saying it is important to get these jabs done.

Unless you are in isolation, in which case wait until your time is up and make appointment straight after. If you are shielding, ring your GP and ask for advice

Yes, absolutely chase them up. Immunisations are at the top of the list for practice nurses to be doing at the moment (I am one). The surgeries are basically empty at the moment as GPs phoning patients so social distancing rather easy.

Get vaccines done. And it's fine to go to the GP, they are taking lots of steps to ensure patient and staff safety.

Yes they need doing as should be done at the usual time I.e. 8 weeks.

Have you had your postnatal checks for baby? We can’t do the imms until that’s been done but at the moment we are doing them together. (Usually do baby check with GP at 6 weeks then imms at 8 weeks but we’re doing them in one go now).

Please be reassured surgeries are taking full precautions. We have very little foot traffic through the surgery (minimising face to face patients) and anyone with respiratory symptoms is being send to a hot hub, rather than coming to us. We are all wearing PPE and cleaning and washing like you wouldn’t believe.

This has (or should have!) become standard practice in primary care.

No I haven't had my 6 weeks check either! It does feel like we've fallen through the cracks a bit although DS has been registered at the GP!

My baby had his 8 week vaccinations 2 days ago and apart from the chair I sat in, I didn't have to touch anything. All doors ect were opened for me. Patients have to wait in their cars and aren't allowed in the waiting room ect no one is on reception and if you need to speak to receptionist, you have to ring. The only person I came into contact with was the doctor. Honestly, it was fine.

Yes it’s strange times and whilst we’re not seeing many patients F2F we are phoning so many - you may well have been overlooked.

Remember to mention the 6 week check when you call.

My dd had her 16 week imms a few weeks ago, just as the lockdown started. The surgery was empty, and the nurse was really good, we were in and out in a few minutes. She emphasised how important they are now, the last thing parents or the nhs need is babies getting ill from avoidable illnesses. And she reassured me that all the support was there as usual, if there were any issues I could call the surgery and come back straight away.

I was anxious about these, purely because of the current situation. My son was due his preschool boosters, and my daughter all her newborn ones. Thought with the risk of coronavirus being very small to them, it was more important to get them done. Only have the 16 week one to go now, and each time we have been to the GP, we've been the only one there. It's normally heaving. I did have to ring and book myself though, so maybe give them a call?

Thank you all, just need a bit of moral support to book the vaccinations as my family are telling me to delay them, which I don't really want to do!
