Just DH and I in the house (oh and a cat who gets expensive prescription biscuits!)
We don’t shop particularly sensibly anyway, alway just buy what we fancy, quite often more expensive brands. Maybe if something we like is on offer, we’ll stock up. Used to nip to a city centre supermarket for bits most days on my way home from work.
Now, I’m doing a week’s shop at a time, so planning more sensibly than just buying what we fancy, but it’s definitely gone up. But then we’re eating far more meals in the house and I’m cooking elaborate meals with lots of ingredients most nights, when quite often on a weeknight I might just chuck some gnocchi and broccoli in a bowl with a bit of Parmesan and squeeze of lemon and call it dinner. We’re also drinking endless coffees.
Overall, though I’m better off. We’re lucky to both still be working and I’m no longer paying for a haircut every five weeks (today I’ll have missed my second appointment), nail appointments, travel pass, petrol, coffees, meals out or clothes...I’d probably have made a few purchases for my spring wardrobe, but instead I’m just wearing gym gear all day.
