Austerity measures?

Press thing tonight, thought his answer was odd, regarding whether the gov would slash public services after the virus in an effort to fix economy.

He totally avoided answering this in any way, except to say that he did not like people calling economic policy ‘austerity’

Which, to my mind, means he supports austerity?

I’m totally confused!

Any thoughtS on why such a Weird answer (apart from fact he is Boris and is weird, etc)?

I mean surely more cuts and austerity would not remotely fix the economy.
Or do people still think that’s a good idea?

He would never admit to 10 years of austerity

He calls it prosperity

I’m not too well up on Boris and his lot to be honest - I gave up on politics somewhere down the line, so can’t profess to know enough.

But I do recall new policies After election in December seeming to curb austerity in many areas, so would be surprised if he thought it a good idea now.

I dare say they haven’t yet drawn up a definite plan.

This is an unprecedented situation so god knows what will happen.
