Or monitor week by week or ease things slightly? I heard a rumour of up to ten possible people gatherings ?

Nobody knows at this point. Government update at 4.30 today but no idea if they are going to say yet.

I can't see us coming out of lockdown before June, and then only partially.

It was only ever a sticking plaster solution to buy time for the NHS, then what?

inwood · 30/04/2020 13:20

I don't think they will announce anything today.

I think it will be at least another 3 weeks.

dollface19 · 30/04/2020 13:26

Lockdown review is a week today so I suppose we see then.
I think it will be at least another 3 weeks of hell

God knows. I don't think anything will massively change.

I did wonder if the tips might reopen, we know that a few takeaways are beginning to reopen.

Beyond that I think a few more weeks of this

FlowersAreBeautiful · 30/04/2020 13:37

The lockdown will definitely be extended but I think maybe they'll change to a review every two weeks instead of three weeks. Also unlikely they'll allow any mixing of households for this extension, maybe the next one. I don't think any of the five criteria set by the government have been met. Maybe when two or three have, they may look at relaxing the lockdown. Will also give the government a chance to monitor Germany's reaction to the relaxation there

Zisforstripyoss · 30/04/2020 13:57

Our local tip has said they are looking to reopen in mid May. Things are slowly happening.

CricketCrocket · 30/04/2020 13:59

I think they will extend it next week for another 3 weeks. They keep saying about how all this will have been for nothing if we come out of lockdown too early.

Our hospital admissions and daily deaths are still too high as well.

terrigrey · 30/04/2020 19:39

I doubt they will lift it very much in May, I'm sure many businesses which can social distance staff and or customers will open up during May.
I doubt the government will think it's a good idea to unlock before the 2nd Bank holiday in May, that would be carnage in terms of people being out and about if that happened.
I'm still working in a socially distancing firm, we would love some of our furloughed colleagues to come back and help out with the workload, (there's room for more staff) but none of them will while the furlough money is on the table.

Egghead68 · 30/04/2020 19:43

I think there will be a few concessions on 7th May e.g you are allowed to travel for exercise or meet outside in small groups if you keep 2m apart. They might say things like garden centres and non-essential jobs can open with social distancing.

mum2jakie · 30/04/2020 19:46

You're already allocated to travel for exercise, Egghead67
