Government box

Hi,
Grandparents elderly and been told to shield 12 weeks. Got government box last week which was great. Arrived about 2pm on weds so a week ago. However their box hasn't arrived yet today and they are worried. Does anyone know if it tends to arrive same time/day each week? Do you think the issue was they didn't open door last week when box arrived (hearing issues). However they did take it in when they realised it was there.

I live 4 hours away so can't help them and they live rurally. Thank you

It's possibly different in different areas, but so far our box has arrived on the same day each week but at random times from very early morning to late evening. Its not been the same company delivering it each time too.

I doubt not answering the door would be an issue. The people that deliver ours put it outside the door, knock once and leave immediately. A couple of times I managed to get to the door in time to thank them, but once we just saw the van driving off.

I believe they're coordinated by councils so perhaps ring their local council about it if it hasnt arrived by tomorrow

Ours comes every Monday morning, roughly same time. Every time they knock I go to the door and they’ve already gone.

They are in Wiltshire if that helps?

Mine comes on the same day each week. They leave it after ringing the doorbell. I would ring their local council tomorrow as they should be the ones dealing with it. Mine comes from Brakes wholesalers.

Ring the local council. They are organised locally.
Ours comes on different days. They knock and leave.

scotlandg · 29/04/2020 20:12

Ok, thank you. I will tell them to see if arrives tomorrow and if not ring. Any idea what part of council they ring who would be dealing with these? Thank you

My family’s was a day late this week, it came the day after it was due

Orchidflower1 · 29/04/2020 20:20

We had first one come middle of the afternoon.
We cancelled it as got a shopping delivery then found out it went to our neighbour
( numbers are same as ours but 10 more eg 151 instead of 161) neighbour is elderly so we said for her to keep it.
Phoned and cancelled and then was surprised when another was arrived about an hour ago!

ExclamationPerfume · 29/04/2020 20:32

03000034576 is the number on the Wiltshire council website.

scotlandg · 29/04/2020 20:36

Thank you for all the help. I wasn't sure if the council boxes are different to the government ones? But if council deal with both then I will ring them on their behalf.

If they happen to live in a small village then it might be the driver got lost. My aunt had to give directions to the driver in a small village in Wiltshire last Wednesday... they aren’t using local delivery people and apparently are struggling. It may just be late.

scotlandg · 30/04/2020 00:19

Yes, they do live in a village. Fingers crossed it will arrive tomorrow. Reassures them to have that arriving.

scotlandg · 30/04/2020 10:43

Nothing yet. Just heavy rain!
