Have a new cough, but already had one 5+ weeks ago, and barely been out of the house in that time!

So the Saturday before lockdown, I got a cough, which didn't make me particularly ill, although I did have a banging headache for 4-5 days. The whole family self isolated as per guidance - DH started coughing the next day. He also wasn't particularly unwell, but did have a few hours being very short of breath after being in the garden for a few hours when the weather had suddenly cooled down. He had to sit still and not talk for those few hours as he was really struggling to breathe. DS and DD have not had any symptoms at all. So, we don't know if we've had covid or not, but possible.

However, since Monday evening, I have had a cough very similar to what I had previously. I don't see how I can have caught anything from anyone, as I've only been out for walks, not been in a shop since the Thursday before lockdown. DH/DS are going out to work, but work outside and don't see anyone. DD has been home doing college work, and going out for walks. I shouldn't even be able to catch a cold surely? Anyone else having a re-occurence of symptoms?

Read the lungs threads.
Some people do have it go on a long time.

Or you could get reactivation maybe.

Some illnesses like adenoviruses can live on surfaces for 3m.

Are you quarantining post and food?

Maybe one of the others had something asymptomatic

Could well just be an “ordinary” virus. You’ve identified that you’ve been on outdoor walks and that others in your household have been to work, albeit outside (and to shops, had deliveries etc). And homes are not virus/bacteria free.

We haven't been quarantining post and food, that felt a bit like overkill to me, but perhaps I'm wrong. I think DH and DS have been in a shop once each in that time. Anyway, I'm not unwell, so whatever it is is obviously fairly mild, but just goes to show you can't be too careful really.
