A pub in Wolverhampton opened during lockdown

I can hardly believe this. I know lockdown has been harder for some than others and I know some people (me included) would have liked a pint in a beer garden over the weekend.

But I can't believe a pub was stupid enough to open.

I'm not really asking a question I just needed thought this needed sharing.

I wonder how they let people know they were open.

sashh · 29/04/2020 06:28

It's on a main road next to Morrisons and near a lot of newish housing.

It's Wolverhampton.

As well as having a higher than average level of Covid-19 deaths and infections, Wolvo has one of England's higher than average level of liver disease.

That pub was probably killing two birds with one stone.

Disgusting!

@Gingernaut there are certainly a lot of, er, eccentric people here. And I spent my formative years in Burnley.

Careful not to tar everyone with the same brush @Gingernaut.

Gingernaut · 29/04/2020 13:20

I live in this shithole.

Trust me, there are drunks reeling around the bus station early every morning.

sashh · 30/04/2020 05:47

Hey I live in the Scotlands, still better than the Burnley of my childhood.

Wow op the Scotland's and you're an outsider. I'm impressed Grin

I'm jealous you have nothycote farm so close for walks mind 😂

Bananarama101 · 30/04/2020 06:36

There's been examples all over the country of puns being caught opening on the quiet. That and hairdressers, gyms & beauty places.

Ponoka7 · 30/04/2020 06:37

There's been two here in Liverpool that have been caught. If the football starts up there will be more. It'll be for the regular crowd that's usually allowed in the lock-ins.

sashh · 30/04/2020 08:28

Why do they think they can get away with it?

About 30 idiots I know made national news when they went for a "socially distanced" drink in a local bit of wasteland after a local guy's funeral last week. They made This Morning and everything. Absolutely cringeworthy.

TheSherbetTurbot · 30/04/2020 09:01

I bet there's more than we think.. I know of 2 pubs very close to me that I strongly suspect are letting regulars in through their back doors and there's a barber locally that's quietly re opened to his regulars.

MabelMoo23 · 30/04/2020 09:09

My husband is from Wolverhampton and my in laws still there.

I know exactly where that pub is, and no, I’m not surprised in slightest

Notcontent · 30/04/2020 09:15

The thing is that some businesses might just be slapped with a fine, but a pub is at risk of losing its licence. Crazy.

Mrsjayy · 30/04/2020 09:16

12 people were fined for being in a pub near us, Dh used to live near it and says he isn't surprised it was open,

Police fine 12 people for flouting coronavirus law at Clacks pub

Mrsjayy · 30/04/2020 09:19

It isn't clicky sorry ill try again.

Queenoftheashes · 30/04/2020 09:19

One in Sheffield was found with punters hiding in cupboards wasn’t it?
