What do you think will happen with filming of films and tv?

Just sat watching tv now. Already it seems slightly strange seeing people so close together.

I don’t think anything is currently still being filmed. I wonder what will happen with that? So many films already postponed or unable to be completed, and tv shows already going off the air. I wonder what they could put into place to start again?

I can't see how Bake Off can happen. There are over 100 people in the tent if you add in all the crew, plus all that tasting.. And the tent isnt wide enough to have social distancing between 12 contestants. You could have 'specials' with 4 former contestants, and a reduced crew but you would still be tasting so...
The tv industry has been decimated, a lot of freelancers are 1 person ltd companies and dont qualify for any Rishi money.
Moving forward, you can do pre and post production remotely but obv not the filming, so I would expect lots of programming based around v short filming periods...

Not sure about Bake Off being possible - they would normally be running back and forth getting ingredients, have lots of film crew about etc.

@laiste I thought they could still do bake off with social distancing and a much bigger tent. Depends what goes on behind the scenes and how much interaction there is there.
However if business is gradually going to return to normal wouldn't it be easier to have coronavirus written into soaps etc.

The lack of films is going to cause a big problem for cinemas trying to reopen as well

Not really as a large number have been postponed so there is a backlog.

It's ongoing tvshows that will struggle as they were being filmed as they aired and now they aren't being filmed.

I'm a freelancer working in TV (multicamera - so studio based stuff) - I have no bookings, or potential booking for the foreseeable. All my friends and colleagues in the industry are the same. Next thing my my diary is December (but obviously that's just a wait-and-see).

I heard on R4 this morning that the Alan Bennet “Talking Heads” programmes are to be repeated on tv.
There was mention of two new ones.
Loved them.

Iwantacookie i hoped that too. But as pp have said thinking about the logistics of filming, tasting, plus the fire/injury risk of all that equipment in a tent - i can't see it happening.

I sit with DD2 (24) and we have a weekly Eat Along With Bake Off session usually. All the weird little things that we will find are gone this year ... :(
