Question about the confusing letters

Just wondering what other people are doing about work if in a similar situation to me. I will try and summarise:

I have not received the first round official NHS letter saying to shield.

7th April received letter from rheumatology dept at hospital. The wording said ‘if you take any of these meds we suggest you shield’. It did not say
how long to shield for. It referred to links on websites to calculate your risk. I did this and my risk was 2. For this level it said to self-isolate and social distance at discretion but not shield so contradicts what the actual letter said! A copy of the official NHS letter was enclosed but not addressed to me.

Last week I got another letter, exactly same as first but this time enclosing the risk calculator criteria table. Again going by this I am in the vulnerable group but the letter suggests to shield

My work have asked if I am shielding or in the vulnerable group below shielding. If I am shielding they have asked what end date was advised.

I don’t know what to say to them. The letter suggests shielding but the associated risk scoring info suggests not. I’m so confused and don’t know what to say to work and they don’t get it either. I’ve not been able to speak to anyone at rheumatology dept.

The whole thing is stressing me out. I don’t understand why the letter contradicts the enclosed guidance?

Just wondered what anyone else who has has this kind of lack of clarity is doing about work?

By the way I am able to work from home so my employer is fine with it but I think they just want to make sure they are being consistent with any other vulnerable employees.

i got a shielding letter from the NHS and one from the GP surgery. both were very clear that i am shielding, and gave advice on how to register and access support.

the one from Rheumatology sounds more confusing than helpful. i take methotrexate for psoriatic arthritis - i spoke to rheumatology on friday about some bloods and they asked if i have other health conditions as the arthritis and methotrexate alone wouldn’t indicate shielding.

i do have a number of other exciting health conditions so will be home for the foreseeable.

keep trying to speak to rheumatology or your GP for clarification.

Thank you - one of my drugs is methotrexate and the other a biological injection.
