Just received a text message from the Government but I’m not sure which family member it relates to.

My 3 children all have different but serious health problems and I’ve now received a text saying that Your condition means you may be at high risk of severe illness if you catch CV. Please remain at home until the end of June.... My dilemma is that I don’t know which DC it relates to! My mobile number is on NHS records for all 3 DCs for appointment updates etc so I can’t be sure who the advice is for. Plus, from what I’ve read about obesity, I could also be covered by that advice (please don’t start criticising means I already hate myself enough for being so fat).

I'd ask at the GP practice on Monday and carry on taking care of all of you as best you can

I got the text on dh phone and the letter with my name on 2 days later

callmeadoctor · 25/04/2020 12:33

So, just all remain home ?

Skybluepink123 · 25/04/2020 12:40

Mystery solved. I’ve just received 2 letters specifying which DCs the text relates to.

You won’t get that message for obesity, that’s not on the shielding list. Look at the shielding list then you will be able to see who it applies to, obesity is not on there.

Glad it's sorted. I had the same a couple of weeks ago but hadn't realised it was related to DC so thought it was for me. In the last few months I've had a lump which needed checking (it was fine) and I'd had to do a pregnancy test at the Dr's. So I then became worried that they'd given me the wrong result in one of these or it was because my BMI is so high. So (selfishly!!) relieved when thst letter came and it was my son not me! Especially as we've checked with his paediatrician and actually he's not in a high risk group at all!

Unless you and your other child can stay two metres away from your shielding children, at all times then you all need to shield anyway.

Me too - started getting the texts yesterday so now waiting for the letter to see who it relates too! I’m guessing it’s my youngest DD but I won’t be opting in to the extra support, not shielding until June, as I think the algorithm has picked up some serious issues in her medical notes when she was a baby but are now resolved.
