Why can’t the government give us something to look forward to? A glimmer of hope in the near future that restrictions may be relaxed a little. The daily briefing yesterday showed there has been a 2-3% increase in public transport. I said it myself to DH that there has been more cars on the roads etc. More people are having that “sod it” attitude. I went shopping yesterday and couldn’t believe the difference compared to 1/2 weeks ago, people aren’t bothered anymore! People aren’t social distancing as well as they were - they’re finding it too much! I’m not saying I’m one of those people so don’t attack me but I think if the government gave us some light at the end of the tunnel people would play ball more.

Why won’t they do this?

The cynic in me would say the government are expecting people to gradually break bounds of their own accord, in lieu of implementing a formal program to ease the lockdown.

Sadly, real life doesn't work that way. People need to grow up and stop behaving like tantrumming toddlers. But I WANT it!! Too bad!

People aren’t bothered anymore as they’ve realised this virus isn’t going anywhere and a vaccine is miles off. So what really is the point of living not seeing loved ones or going out if you fancy?

They will have to ease the lockdown at the end of these few weeks as people are just going to start going out anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can see why they won’t say how/when they will ease it as some people’s mentality will be well if I can likely do x in 10 days might as well do it now. I think the panic buying toilet roll shows some of the public can’t be trusted tbh

NHS England think we're past the peak and are starting to plan how to get back to more routine work. That's a good sign I think.

They have described the criteria for relaxing lockdown
They don't know when we will get there but they have shown that we are moving towards and not away from that point

I’m just trying to be realistic. What I’m saying is the truth. Yes, I agree with you to a certain extent but there’s also many other factors to consider such as mental health etc but that’s something else and not really what I wanted to get into.

I think because we’re behind a lot of other countries in the pandemic and countries like Spain, China & Italy are slowly easing restrictions (I know that their restrictions are still stricter than ours) but I think maybe people are looking at these countries and expecting the same? Not saying that’s right, just a suggestion

I should add that it also worries me that since there has been an increase in public transport use, that a second peak will strike.

They aren’t going to accept any blame no matter what happens. This is like the starving Irish waving to fat queen victoria on her visit to the country and then telling her how much they loved her. We have pensioners wishing Boris well as he’s killing them

Things will gradually reopen.
It won't be for a few weeks yet though ( reading between the lines of the news today)
